Why didn’t I think of this before: A charger that doubles as a dock? Or a dock that doubles as a charger? Which is it?
The EasyAcc 2-port USB charging dock is simply your typical USB charger but with two slots cut out to rest your tablet or smartphone. It comes with a microUSB cable.
Each slot is tilted slightly back, and accommodates devices just under 13mm thick. The slots are padded.
There’s a plastic film covering the front. I thought there might be some charging indicator. There are none.
Not a whole lot going on with this device. No indicators, no splashy logos, no power switch. Very straightforward.
Here’s the included power cord and micro USB cable plugged in. Got an Apple device? You’ll need your own Lightning or 30-pin cable.
It so happens that my son is in the habit of keeping his Kindle and iPad charged and in one spot when they’re not in use. I immediately found a problem: If you have a cover on your device, it may not fit.
This is an iPad Air 2 (2014) with a Logitech Blok Case. The case measures 15.2mm thick, and would not fit in the slot.
Same thing with the Kindle HD7 with case. It’s also thicker than the slot allows.
Solution? I removed the rubbery inserts. Now the opening measure about 16mm. The bad news: I couldn’t easily get the inserts back in. I guess I’m keeping it this way.
And that’s just fine. My son happens to have two “smart” devices and there are two slots. Now his “charging station” is neatly organized with plenty of juice to spare.

Not a new idea. Fuzdesigns has had their EverDockDuo for quite some time.
