I received an email from Verizon this morning that said I could double my existing data allowance from 3GB to 6GB for FREE just by calling a phone number. I just got off the phone with them and now I have 6GB of data and it didn’t cost me a cent. Seems a little too good to be true and I was slightly worried that it might be a scam, but it doesn’t appear to be. I asked if the deal was available to everyone and the Verizon guy said yes, but I didn’t get details if it’s only available for people on the More Everything plan like I have. They didn’t pressure me to add any new paid services or switch to the EDGE plan. He did say that the extra data would drop off if / when I change my data plan for any reason. If I decrease or raise my data allowance, the free 3GB will vanish. I just logged into my Verizon account on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that I’m reviewing and it does indeed show that I now have 6GB of data. Nice! I love free stuff!
Be sure to check your email inbox and text messages. Apparently they are contacting select Verizon customers using these two methods.

It wouldn’t matter to me if my contract was extended / renewed for another 2 years since Verizon has the best coverage of any carrier in my area. I don’t anticipate switching anytime soon.
I just called and it didn’t work for me. The lady said you had to get the email from Verizon to get that promo…
@eric They didn’t ask me for any special code. Just my mobile number and then asked if I had received a text or email. That’s a bummer that it didn’t work for you. Sorry for getting your hopes up. Hopefully it will for someone…
I have a 4 GB plan and was unable to double the data…they said that they only send the offer to select people. They do have another promotion…the 5 GB plan is $80 per month and you now get 10 GB…even if you renew your contract. So I dumped my Nexus 7 (I also have an iPad) from the plan, got back ten bucks that I used to upgrade to the 5 GB plan, doubled so I now have 10 GB to play with and my bill stays the same. YAY! This deal is available to ANYONE.

I gonna have to go with Mark on this one. I had the 4GB plan ($70) and upped it to 10GB ($80) and with my discount it went up a whopping $9.
So $9 for an additional 6GB is pretty good in my opinion. As Mark stated it appears that is deal if for anyone. Thanks!
I just called for this deal, and was told I am not eligible. We have one of Verizons fairly standard plans More Everything, with 4 lines, and 10GB of data. The person who I talked to was not sure why I was not eligible. He also said it you need to receive a text message from Verizon, and when/IF you do, then you are eligible.
I plan to get off Verizon ASAP. This is just one more reason why …
I called.. I was on the 1gb More Everything plan for three lines. For and extra $10 per month they moved me to the 4gb plan. They did say that the promotion was blasted out to a lot of people and while I wasn’t able to take advantage, they offered me the above deal. Nothing else in my plan changed…
I received a different Connection Day deal: 1 GB free each for the next two billing cycles. Not as good a deal us yours, but worth it.
@Ariel The deal I got is not for Verizon’s Connection Day which I posted about last week. As far as I understand, it’s separate.
Man I wish this would work for us! However, we are on none of the fancy new plans, as they are not cost effective. I still have unlimited data via Verizon, my husband has 2 GB (which would be nice to get to 4 GB!) and my in-laws have 5 GB on their LTE mobile hotspot. Doubling theirs would be great! No email on our end though!

It’s not a renewal contract, but it is only for the More Everything Plan, not Nationwide which is what I have so it is not applicable.
they lowered my bill for 4 gigs $20
Tried 2 times and I was told I am not eligible. I have the exact same plan as you, and I have been with Verizon for 15 years and they couldn’t make it happen. Darn! They did offer me 10G for $80 month, which they say is a promotion. Thanks for posting. It was worth a try.
