Fourth time around, Merrell and Snow Peak went quiet with the colors. Their Agility Peak 6 BOA X Snow Peak paints Merrell’s most technical trail runner in the blue-gray of the hour before sunrise, and it runs $210, a $30 step over the standard BOA shoe.

Nothing under the paint changes. FloatPro foam, a Vibram Megagrip outsole with 5mm lugs, and a BOA dial fit carry over from the regular shoe, so the decision comes down to $30 and how much the detailing counts for the person buying it.

Painted for the hour before sunrise

Snow Peak drew the palette from pre-dawn hours in the field, that stretch when the sky brightens in stages and the landscape is still just outlines. Blue-gray runs across the mesh upper and into the midsole, one color family from toe to heel, in a shade Merrell calls Stormy Weather.

Reflective detailing sits inside the 3D-printed TPU overlays and in the tongue and heel logos, cut to catch low light on dawn starts. Clear components in the BOA dial match the palette instead of fighting it.

Inside the shoe, the insole carries both logos in glow-in-the-dark print. It’s a small thing, and it’s the most Snow Peak detail on the shoe, camp thinking applied to a runner, built for finding a pair inside a dark tent.

One color. No options. That’s the collab format, and it keeps the decision simple.

Stormy Weather is the only color, and the run is unisex. Snow Peak is a camp brand first, titanium cookware and tents out of Niigata, and its footwear rounds with Merrell have always treated the shoe as camp equipment that happens to run.

One dial instead of laces

BOA’s PerformFit Wrap replaces laces with a side dial and cable guides that pull the upper down in one motion. Twist to tighten, pull to release, and the fit adjusts in small clicks instead of a full re-lace at a trail junction.

BOA guarantees the system for the life of the shoe, and Merrell designs the wrap for stability and control, holding the midfoot down so the foot stays put on descents.

Merrell builds the rest of the fit hardware for debris. A bellows tongue blocks grit at the throat, the collar is padded, and the upper mixes breathable mesh with synthetic and TPU overlays in the wear zones, so rocks and brush meet the overlays first.

A lightweight shield sits under the midsole against sharp, uneven ground. Lining is 100% recycled mesh. The footbed pulls out for drying, the build is vegan friendly, and Cleansport NXT treatment keeps odor down across a long camp weekend.

Grip and cushion carry over unchanged

FloatPro foam is Merrell’s energy-return midsole, and FLEXconnect grooves cut into it let the shoe bend in two directions over uneven ground. Full-length FLEXconnect is new to this generation of the shoe. Stack runs 38mm at the heel and 30mm up front, an 8mm drop that suits long miles more than short speed work.

Vibram’s Megagrip rubber grips wet and dry surfaces, and the traction lugs are shaped to bite and then shed debris with each step. At 10.82 ounces per shoe, it’s light for this much stack and lug, and that weight buys protection on rocky descents.

Merrell anchors its US Skyrunner push on the base shoe this year, and the design brief came from athlete and consumer feedback: max cushion, all distances, confidence on technical ground. It’s the serious mileage shoe in the line. This one treats it that way, changing the surface and leaving the tool alone.

One listing covers the run on Merrell’s site: unisex sizing, Stormy Weather, style J00006517. Standard and wide widths both sit in the variant list.

The $30 question

Pricing is a clean ladder here: standard shoe at $150, BOA version at $180 with the dial, this one at $210 with the Snow Peak treatment. Each step buys exactly one thing. Nothing hides in the math.

Buyers who run by spec sheet should buy the standard shoe. It’s the same platform, the same dial, the same outsole, at $180 from Merrell and $179.95 on Amazon in black, and it comes in colors that show dirt less.

Campers run the other way. Snow Peak’s audience already pays for design that holds up in the field, and this is the one version of a proven trail shoe built in that language, down to an insole logo that glows when the tent goes dark.

Stock was live across the full size run at Merrell when this was checked, 20 size and width variants, all in stock, 174 pairs across the run in Merrell’s own count. One variant already sat at a single pair, so the run is moving at the edges.

Pay the $30 only if the colorway is the point. Hardware shoppers lose nothing on the standard shoe, and colorway shoppers get exactly the shoe they came for. Merrell priced that split clean.
