REVIEW – As you all know, ebikes are a part of my nerdy world, and I was extremely excited when Cycrown offered the CycHunter ebike for review. When the bike arrived, I was surprised to see that they actually sent the Dremax model that a team member had already reviewed. When I inquired about returning it, they immediately apologized for the mix-up and indicated that, due to some shipping delays, the Hunter was not yet available. To make up for the confusion, they sent me the Roma model and asked if I could test it and do a comparison story. I am still hoping to review the CycHunter, but in the meantime, here we go:

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The Cycrown Commuter Dremax eBike arrives mostly assembled and is easy to complete by finishing the assembly. Here is the time-lapse video of my assembly process (previously reviewed):

The Cycrown Roma All-Terrain eBike also arrives mostly assembled and is easy to complete by finishing the assembly. I must mention that this was the best packaging I have ever seen for an Ebike. Here are some photos from my build and a time-lapse video as well:

Performance

Both the Cycrown Roma all-Terrain Ebike and the Cycrown Commuter Dremax Ebike perform well. They feel safe and sturdy, the ride is smooth, and the seats are relatively comfortable. Neither bike is a speed demon, but they are certainly fast enough for their intended purpose, and the battery lasts quite long. In NYS, there are ebike rules that limit the bikes to speeds within the Class 2 requirements. While my knee replacement surgery prevented me from taking on long rides, I was able to ride around my neighborhood. I recorded the following two videos, allowing me to share some feedback.

App:

There is also a companion app that would be very useful for providing statistical information for fun, training, etc.

What needs to be improved?

  • Both bikes are well-built and beautifully finished. I am not a fan of the left-handed throttle
