REVIEW – I love ebikes. They are a great way of expanding the range and accessibility of biking and they’re just a lot of fun to ride. Today’s review is an ebike, the REVR TA7e Off-Road electric bike, that just looks like packaged fun. It’s a different style of ebike than others I’ve reviewed in the past and I’ve wondered how the motorcycle style seats hold up for riding as an ebike. Read on to see how it held up!

Design and features
The design of this ebike mimics the sloped seat configuration you sometimes see on motorcycles. It still has a full pedal assembly along with Shimano shifters and front/rear disc brakes.
The cable management on this ebike is fantastic and I didn’t feel like I was fighting the cables or that they were in the way at all.
Assembly
Assembly of this ebike was pretty straightforward and similar to other bikes I’ve assembled. Just make sure that you pay attention to the details and orientation of pieces so that you don’t have to redo anything. This ebike has one of the best toolkits I’ve seen so far, I think. All the tools wrap up in a nice, neat package.
The packaging of all the parts was very well done and I think that this is one of the largest ebike boxes I’ve seen so far. Part of that is because of the Kenda fat tires which are substantial, but all of the parts were protected and I didn’t have any shipping damage to deal with.
The most annoying part of the unboxing, I think, is all of the zip ties that need to be removed. There are a few points where I had to take extra care to avoid scratching the pretty finish on the ebike.
Perhaps the biggest lesson I learned in assembly on this is to make sure that you install the handlebars the right way. The first time I installed them upside down, which took some backtracking to fix. As you can see below, don’t do this.
Installation of the front tire is similar to most bikes I’ve set up. Make sure that you’re careful with the disc brakes and that everything lines up correctly before tightening it down.
Simple pedal install. Make sure you pay attention to which is left and right.
One nice addition to the kit was a small hand pump. I prefer using an electric pump, but in a pinch it’s nice to have.
Performance
This bike handles off road terrain very well. We took it up and down hills for several long bike rides and the handling was exceptional. The brakes also held up to some extended downhill runs and got very hot but still worked great.
I even took it through the sand at a beach and it got further than any of the other bikes before it bogged down and required some walking. The fat tires helped but still weren’t quite enough in loose sand.
The shock absorbers on this bike are fantastic and make for a very smooth ride.
The battery life sensor was a little fickle, in my opinion. It would be nice if there were a range remaining estimation, as once you get down to one or two bars, it’s hard to know what’s truly remaining.
Final thoughts
I think this is a really fun electric bike for adults. The design of the seat does make it a little more difficult to pedal as it’s large and thick. The cadence sensor works pretty well, it’s just a little harder to dig in with the pedals as the seat gets it the way. I think tapering the seat a little would help. Overall, the ride is super smooth and the design is beautiful. I definitely recommend this ebike, especially if you’re looking for something to help you get out and about.
What I like about the REVR TA7e Off-road ebike
- Design is gorgeous and the paint job is fantastic
- Shocks and suspension on this ebike make for a very comfortable ride
- Great lighting that is very visible
- Fat tires make navigation in rough terrain much easier
What needs to be improved?
- Taper the seat a little towards the front to make pedaling easier
