REVIEW – I love kitchen gadgets, especially ones that are well designed and aesthetically pleasing. The Laura Ashley hand mixer up for review today looked like it might meet those criteria and while our old hand mixer mostly works, it’s well over twenty years old at this point and could easily stand to be retired. Read on to see how the new one does!

Design and features
The design on this hand mixer is an Elveden Navy designer print. I’m not very trendy, so I’m not familiar with that designer, but I can say that the design is very pretty. It looks nice and the finish looks sturdy and should be able to take a fair amount of wear and tear.
There are two sets of stainless steel attachments in the box, one set of beaters and the other a set of hooks. We primarily use the beaters for whipping cream, egg whites, or frosting, so while the review focuses on those, the hooks look very sturdy and should be able to handle most of what you throw at them.
The canvas storage bag that comes with the mixer is another nice little addition to this package. It’s separated into two separate pockets, one for the mixer and the other for the attachments. There is also a drawstring to close it up and secure things inside.
Setup
Wash and dry the beaters. Slot them in, plug the mixer in and you’re set.
Performance
One of the tests we did on this was beating egg whites into a peak. From start to finish, it took one minute!
Other things we mixed up:
Peanut butter cookies (Alton Brown’s recipe)
Frosting (multiple colors for a calico cat cake)
Final thoughts
This is a great hand mixer. My wife likes making cakes and it worked very well for frosting. Beating eggs whites to a peak only took a minute, something that took our old mixer much longer to do. It stands on its own so you don’t have to worry about resting the attachments on the counter and making a bigger mess than necessary. The design is very pretty and it’s just a joy to use something that works well and looks nice at the same time. Ejecting the attachments is a tad difficult, but I think that will loosen up on with time as well.
What I like about the Laura Ashley Hand Mixer
- It is very pretty!
- The beaters are easy to wash
- It stands up easily on its own. You don’t need to lean it on a bowl or anything else
- The 300W motor is very powerful and not much phases it
- Storage bag is broken into two pockets for the mixer and attachments
What needs to be improved?
- The release mechanism for the beaters is difficult to press and launches them when you do push it hard
