Making espresso at home can become a hobby surprisingly quickly. First comes the machine, then a grinder, scale, milk pitcher, tamper, and enough accessories to make the kitchen counter look like a small café. That’s great if learning the process is part of the fun, but less appealing when you simply want a latte before work without turning breakfast into barista training.

The KAXFREE SF1 Max Fully Automatic Espresso Machine takes the opposite approach. Fill it with beans, water, and milk, choose a drink, and the machine handles grinding, brewing, and frothing. It also offers customizable recipes, app controls, scheduled brewing, and both hot and cold milk foam.
KAXFREE put the commercially available SF1 Max at the center of its IFA 2026 coffee lineup. The interesting question isn’t whether your coffee machine needs another touchscreen or app. It’s whether the SF1 Max removes enough work from making espresso and milk drinks to justify the counter space.
The SF1 Max Removes the Messy Parts of Espresso Making
The SF1 Max has an integrated metal conical-burr grinder with nine grind settings, eliminating the need for a separate grinder. KAXFREE says its coaxial grinding system is designed to accommodate beans at different roast levels.
After grinding, the machine automatically handles pre-infusion and extraction. KAXFREE describes its system using terms such as “Golden Extraction” and promotes features including water distribution, pre-infusion, bottom-up extraction, and fine filtration.

Those are descriptions of KAXFREE’s engineering rather than independent proof that the machine makes better espresso than its competitors. The more tangible advantage is convenience. You aren’t separately grinding and dosing beans, preparing a puck, pulling a shot, and then frothing milk.
If you enjoy controlling every one of those steps, the SF1 Max removes part of the experience. If you mainly want the finished coffee, that’s exactly the appeal.
Hot and Cold Milk From One Tank
The milk system may be the SF1 Max’s most interesting feature. KAXFREE’s Hot & Cold 2-in-1 Milk Tank handles both hot and cold frothing without requiring you to change milk containers, while the removable tank can go back into the refrigerator between drinks.

That matters more in everyday use than another page of drink icons. A household can move between hot cappuccinos, lattes, and cold milk drinks without swapping frothing hardware or pulling out another appliance.
KAXFREE also advertises a roughly one-minute rapid cold-extraction function. That is dramatically faster than traditionally steeped cold brew, so it is better treated as KAXFREE’s take on rapid cold extraction rather than assuming it will produce the same result as a long steep.
There Are Plenty of Drinks
The SF1 Max uses a 6.86-inch touchscreen and offers Smart and Master modes. Smart Mode emphasizes streamlined preparation, while Master Mode provides greater control over recipes and brewing parameters.
KAXFREE advertises 28 drink options in total, consisting of 24 built-in drinks and four additional recipes available through the app. The exact recipe selection may matter more than the headline number, especially for households with different coffee habits.

What’s more useful is the ability to customize drinks and save recipes. In a household where one person wants a strong espresso and someone else starts every morning with a latte, repeatable recipes could eliminate a lot of daily adjustment.
The Smart Features Have Practical Value
Connecting a coffee machine to an app doesn’t automatically improve the coffee, but some of the SF1 Max’s connected functions make sense. KAXFREE says the app lets users manage recipes, remotely control the machine, and schedule drinks in advance.
Scheduled brewing still requires some planning. The machine needs the necessary ingredients and a properly positioned cup before automation becomes useful. Smart controls reduce interaction with the machine; they don’t eliminate preparation.

Maintenance isn’t completely hands-off either. KAXFREE promotes automatic cleaning, drainage, and maintenance functions designed to reduce manual work. Somebody still has to refill the water, empty the grounds, manage the milk container, and perform any deeper maintenance the machine requires.
KAXFREE Had More Coffee Machines at IFA
The SF1 Max was only part of KAXFREE’s IFA 2026 lineup. The company also showed the upcoming SP1 Max, a more hands-on semi-automatic machine with a 7-inch touchscreen, pressure and flow-rate displays, integrated weighing, and additional extraction controls.
The upcoming SE1 Elite uses what KAXFREE calls 6°C CryoExtract Technology, which the company says can produce cold brew at 6°C in under five minutes. Further out is the SF2, an IFA Honoree that KAXFREE expects to launch in late 2027.
Those machines show where KAXFREE is heading, but the SF1 Max is the relevant machine today because it is commercially available and concentrates on automating the process rather than giving you more barista work to do.
Who Should Buy the KAXFREE SF1 Max?
The SF1 Max makes the strongest case for someone who enjoys espresso-based drinks but doesn’t particularly want espresso-making to become another hobby. Grinding, extraction, milk frothing, recipe customization, and some cleaning functions are consolidated into one machine, while the hot-and-cold milk system gives households more flexibility without requiring separate frothing equipment.
There is still an important evidence distinction. Claims about extraction quality, milk texture, and other performance characteristics come primarily from KAXFREE and should not be treated as independent test results.

That makes the SF1 Max more convincing as a convenience machine than as a promise of objectively superior espresso. Its strongest argument is simply how many steps it can remove between wanting a cappuccino and drinking one.
