Heybike Hauler cargo ebike review

REVIEW – My ebike craze continues as I look for various bikes to test and review. The goal is also to look at e-bikes that provide functionality and purpose beyond just exercise and riding for leisure. Enter the Heybike Hauler cargo ebike.

The Heybike Hauler cargo bike is the first cargo-focused Ebike from Heybike It is designed for hauling goods, groceries, people, and more. The large carrying capacity gives riders the ability to haul everything they need. It also features a powerful 1400W peak motor.

The Heybike Hauler cargo bike is solidly built and includes features like a carrier rack that can hold accessories like a kid carrier, and there are fold-down footrests on each side of the cargo area. There is a large display that provides all of the necessary and usual information. Controls include hydraulic brakes, a 7-gear shifter, and a bright headlight and taillight with turn signals integrated into both. All the tools required to assemble and maintain this e-bike are included. The front shocks are adjustable, 

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The Heybike Hauler cargo ebike arrives mostly assembled in a big box. The only requirements for assembly are to attach the handlebar, front wheel pedals front light, and fender. The necessary tools are included and the assembly process is easy. I also attached the kid carrier. It is an accessory and a personal choice. The following photos provide some snapshots from my assembly process. Once the assembly was completed, I charged the bike overnight to ensure it was fully charged and ready for testing.

Performance

The Heybike Hauler cargo bike is built incredibly well, and when riding the bike feels smooth and comfortable. it is also quite fast. The ride is stable and the seat is comfortable. The bike feels solid. The front and back lights are very bright and provide great light for visibility even in daylight. The front signals are integrated into the front headlight and provide a very attractive look. Heybike added an on/off button and a USB-A charging port for accessories. IMHO, this is a worthwhile addition to the design. Another impressive design inclusion is the dual stands. This bike has a center stand and a side kickstand. These features add flexibility and versatility.

As shown in the photo below, there is a battery tray for a second battery before the seat, This enhances the distance you can travel between charges and makes this bike a true Hauiler.

Take a look at how bright the front light shines. This is very important for safety. When riding in low light, the Hauler’s headlights automatically switch on.

The front signals are integrated into the headlight and are very bright and quite attractive. When riding in low visibility, you want to be able to see and be seen by others. 

The rear light also has integrated signals and is also very bright.

The display is large and easy to see outdoors, but I wish it was a color display. This bike is beautiful and a color display just seems like it belongs. It provides all the normal information like battery charge, speed, distance, Pedal Assist Mode, etc.

Heybike has a companion app that provides the usual trackable information as well as the ability to customize things like the speed settings and the contrast of the display.

Overall, I very much enjoy riding this bike. I was unsure if I would like to ride a cargo bike, but this Heybike Hauler has convinced me that it belongs in my collection. Everything on the bike is put together well, and attention has been paid to the important details. It is simply well done. The following video is an overview of the ebike and some of my thoughts:

What needs to be improved?

• The LED display should be in color

Final thoughts

The Heybike Hauler cargo bike is very well-built and surprisingly fast. It rides well, feels comfortable, and offers multiple options for carrying cargo. This a very well-designed and built ebike.
