REVIEW – A pocket screwdriver? What’s wrong with the screwdriver on your multi-tool? For one thing, your multi-tool probably doesn’t feature a ratchet, and definitely isn’t as satisfying as a fidget-thing.
What is it?
The MetMo Pocket Driver is a compact ratcheting screwdriver with built-in bit storage. It’s a smaller version of the MetMo driver that Julie reviewed last year. It’s available in three versions. This one is the all-stainless version.

Stainless Steel (316 grade)
10.9 Equivalent Grade bolt (304 Stainless Steel)
Induction hardened tool steel (D2 Grade HRC55)
High tensile brass (HTB1)
Martensitic stainless steel (420C Grade Hardened HRC55)
103mm (4.0″) x 27mm (1.06″) x 20mm (0.78″)
Weight: 230g (8.1 Oz)
The tool is surprisingly heavy. I measured 8 oz alone, or 8-3/8 oz with the included bits.
Design and features
The tool is an interesting design. The handle swings out to create a grip of sorts for more torque. The chuck accepts standard 1/4″ bits.
When folded, the tool is very compact. It reminds me of a lightsaber.
The handle swings out easily. You could open it with one hand. There’s very little friction.
There are three ways to use the tool: When folded, you can insert a bit through a hole in the handle (top), or hold the handle in various angles for comfort or turning power.
The bits slip into the front and are held with a magnet in the chuck.
The driver can also be used in its compact folded form.
A ball bearing on the opposite end “locks” the handle in place when folded.
There’s bit storage (for two) just behind the cap.
Performance
The real party trick is the ratchet mechanism.
Flip the brass stem either direction to change the rotating action of the ratchet. Or place in the middle to lock in place.
It’s so compact, it’ll easily slip in your pocket so you’ll be ready anytime, anywhere.
What I like about the MetMo Stainless Steel Pocket Driver
- Made of premium materials
- Compact
- Convenient bit storage
What needs to be improved?
- The Stainless model is a little heavy, but the black aluminum model is about 1/2 the weight.
- Pricey
Final thoughts
The price of the Stainless Steel model is eye-watering, but once you hold it in person, you can’t put it down. The fidget-toy action seems like a novelty, but that combined with the ratchet action makes it a clever EDC pocket driver. It has earned a place in my bag.
Price: $212.80 (as tested), other models start at $127.68

a $200+ SCREWDRIVER?!?
The non-stainless steel version is quite a bit lighter. 3.8 oz versus 8.1 oz. So less than half.
Sorry I missed the comment in the review that the non-stainless version is 1/2 the weight!
Screwed at half the price !
