REVIEW – I mostly walk around the house barefoot, so keeping the floors squeaky clean is essential. Vacuuming and mopping using the Ultenic MC1 vacuum happens thrice weekly. Visually, they look great, and I seldom feel any dirt underfoot, but I was surprised with the crud Ultenic’s AC1 Elite cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaner picked up.

Design and features

The Ultenic AC1 Elite cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaner arrived in a large recyclable cardboard box.

The packaging was good, and there were no bumps or bruises.

The AC1 requires a minor assembly. The handle snaps into the body and secures with a satisfying click.

The power supply is “wall-wart” style and connects to a socket on the base.

Storage in the base for the cleaning brush, spare HEPA filter, and roller bar sand helps keep the components organized.

Performance

Atop the body is a dazzling color display, making the AC1 feel like it just beamed in from The Enterprise. A ring for dirt sensing levels surrounds indicators for “Smart Mode,” “Max Mode,” “Water Absorption Mode,” “Silent Mode,” “Auto Cleaning Status,” “Add Water,” “Dirty Water Pouring,” “Roller Brush Blockage,” and battery level. It’s an impressive array of information!

The Ultenic AC1 Elite cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaner stands by itself, an excellent feature that allows you to pick up or move obstructions without needing to prop it against a wall, lay it down, or return it to its base. When fully upright and locked, the vacuum enters “standby mode” and turns off the motors. The motors reengage when the body is unlocked with the press of a foot on the roller housing.

It’s self-propelled and pulls itself forward, begging to consume more grubby messes, spilled milk, and kitty puke (I know, gross, but that’s why you’re reading this review, right?). I could hear changes in suction power, which let me know that automatic dirt detection was doing its job.

After filling the clean water tank and adding some Ultenic cleaning solution, I took the inaugural voyage. Earlier that day, my robotic vacuum and Ultenic MC1 had both been on patrol, and my floors looked clean, debris-free, and shiny, but one pass showed me plenty of room for improvement. Thirty minutes of cleaning captured a shocking amount of dirt and crud. Yuck!

I was especially pleased with the weight and was able to use the AC1 on my stairs and entryway’s ceramic tiles, areas that are inaccessible to robotic companions and often neglected. Great Job, Ultenic!

After use, pressing the “Auto Cleaning” button flushes water through the AC1’s components, but keeping the internal parts clean is still essential. The roller brush and housing are accessible by popping the cover off with opposing buttons.

The included cleaning brush gets into all of the nooks and crannies.

The roller brush pivots out for rinsing and drying. It takes a while, so placing it in the base helps.

The wastewater tank also needs scrubbing. The upper basket captures larger debris, while smaller grains pass through with the wastewater.

Last but not least, rinse the filter.

What needs to be improved?

  • Nothing
