REVIEW – For the past few years, I have been very interested in water filtration systems. Although the authorities in New York continue to preach that our tap water is drinkable, I continue not to trust it 100%. There are times that I have to turn the water off from the main to work on something, and each time when I turn the water back on, I see brown sediments with the first few spurts that come out of the faucet. Since I moved into my new home, I have been using countertop filters, and I was happy when I got the opportunity to install and review this SimPure V7 5 Stage Under Kitchen Sink Water Filter System.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The installation process for the SimPure V7 5 Stage Under Kitchen Sink Water Filter System is very easy for any DIYer or Pro since it is a direct connection between the cold water shut-off valve and the faucet. In my case, I added some additional hardware to allow my KUL system to take advantage of the filtered water. I know this might be considered overkill since the KUL has its own filter, but I figured that double filtering could only add to the water quality the system would use. I added a valve and had to temporarily use 2 Coca-Cola drink crates to raise the filter since the included water supply cables were too short to reach the already installed cold water valve or the faucet.

Performance

The SimPure V7 5 Stage Under Kitchen Sink Water Filter System was installed easily without any leaks. The water pressure is unaffected and the water tastes good. The device is all metal except for the inlet and outlet elbows. The included hoses are a bit short for my need but I will build a base to increase the height of the filter. It is sturdy and well-made and will likely last a long time. My only issue is that there is no visible way to see the life of the internal filter.

What I like about the SimPure Water Filter System

  • It is easy to install
  • It is sturdy and well-made
  • The elbows are replaceable
  • The filter is rated to last for a long time

What needs to be improved?

  • There is no visible indicator to tell when the filter needs to be changed. I am unsure if there is a direct relationship between the advertised 20,000 gallons and the 12-month timeline. For example, if I only use 10,000 gallons in one year, can I keep the filter in for 2 years or is there some degradation that occurs after 12 months regardless of how many gallons passed through it?

Final thoughts

The SimPure V7 5 Stage Under Kitchen Sink Water Filter System is easy to install and does not take long to prepare for use. The water pressure has not been affected, and the removable internal filter lasts a long time, which is a great asset.

  2. Looking at reports elsewhere there are a few common threads… 1) The metal container for the filter tends to rust inside. 2) The filter removes little more than chlorine (there is no carbon so that is not surprising). The filter element has a very short life span (a few months in many cases). I’d llkely take a pass on it.
