Performance
The SoundPEATS GoFree2 Open-Ear Headphones are very comfortable to wear for long periods and my wife can sleep with them in her ears because they fit securely. They do not fit me as well, and I am assuming that it may be because my ears are bigger than hers. There is no kind of adjustment that I was able to make to have them sit in a position that allowed me to hear the full range of sound properly. I could only do so if I used my hands to keep them in place and this also was a problem since they have a touch surface. This also means that I could never use them if doing any activity that requires vigorous movement. Once charged, the battery does last for my entire regular day of use.
I like that there is a companion app that I can use to tailor the sound to my taste. Here are some screenshots from the app to give you an idea of what is available:
App:
I listened to several genres including Contemporary Jazz, Easy Listening, the Classics, and Gospel, and I enjoyed every track I selected. The lows, mids, and highs are very well-balanced, and there is no discernable distortion in any frequency range.
I am very happy with the call quality. The Bluetooth connection is generally good, but I have experienced a few occasions when I moved approximately 10 meters away from the source (my iPhone) and the sound started to fade in and out.
What I like
- Attractive design and good build quality
- A nice sound that is very dependent on the fit
- Decent app
- Decent battery life
What I’d change
- The 10M distance for the Bluetooth becomes spotty if the line of sight is lost
- Need adjustability for various ear sizes
Final thoughts
The SoundPEATS GoFree2 Open-Ear Headphones are attractive and well-made. I did find that they fit my wife’s ears very well but seem to not be a good fit for me in terms of them being able to rest in the correct position to provide the best listening position. Regardless, the sound reproduction is good and they are very comfortable to wear for long periods.
