REVIEW – Cable types have come and gone, but cable clutter remains with us no matter what. Cable ties are nice but sometimes, cables just want to make a rat’s nest all on their own. The Magtame cables use the power of magnets to tame your cables.
What is it?
On the surface, Magtame cables appear to be high quality braided cables, but they are embedded with magnets that help keep things tidy.
What’s in the box?
I received a USB to Micro USB Magtame cable, and a USB-C to USB-C cable. They come in 1m or 1.5m lengths.
They also come in Lighting variants as well.
Design and features
They’re just… cables. They do have a premium feel with the braided jacket and heftier feel.
But look! The Magtame cables coil effortlessly without the use of cable ties.
I discovered the magnets allow you to coil the cables in different degrees of tightness. Below is the same cable coiled up three different diameters.
I wasn’t sure how to illustrate how this coils up, so here’s a GIF animation illustrating how simple it is.
What I like
- Braided jacket feels premium
- Magnets!
What I’d change
- More colors would be nice (only black and silver)
Final thoughts
I can see Magtame cables as part of my “go bag” where messy cables just clutter everything up. If you demand that your cables behave, then give the Magtame cables a look! They’re more expensive than your junk drawer cables, but these are cables you can tame with Magtame.

I purchased one 13 months ago and it failed. It’s one month out of warranty and Magtame offered to sell me a replacement at full price. That’s some poor customer service right there. Too many other options to buy something from a company that doesn’t stand by its products.
