Distil Union Wally 01

REVIEW – I prefer thin low profile wallets since I carry mine in my right front pocket with my car key. I only carry a few bills and about eight cards normally. The Distil Union Wally Bifold 5.0 is a sleek modern bifold that may convince me to switch to a new wallet. Let’s take a closer look.

What is it?

The Distil Union Wally Bifold 5.0 is an updated version of their very popular Wally 4.0 low profile wallet that can carry up to 14 cards and easily more than 20 bills in a sleek and classy leather bifold style that is available in black, brown, or navy.

Design and features

The Distil Union Wally Bifold 5.0 has a few significant updates from the previous Wally 4.0 but overall has the same design. The biggest changes are slightly longer pull tabs, slightly deeper pockets, and the removal of the automatic pull tab return. Now just pushing your cards in returns the tab but it did remove some excess material and thickness so an overall improvement I think.

The Distil Union Wally Bifold 5.0 opens up to reveal a very nice stainless steel pocket clip that self-adjusts to the number of bills so even a couple are still held securely. Slots on the inside allow you to store more cards out of the way. Perfect for an ID card or gift cards you don’t always need to get to.

Deeper pockets allow the magnets to catch even when loaded with cards. This keeps the profile slimmer and avoids stacking and keeps your cards more secure.

The pull tabs have been lengthened ever so slightly which makes them easier to grab compared to the 4.0.

Pulling up on the tab brings all your cards on that side up and then pushing them down returns the tab again. The magnets don’t interfere with your cards but still snap together securely on each pocket and then to each side to keep the wallet closed even with quite a few bills inside.

What I like

  • Plastic free packaging
  • Slim, well thought out design

Final thoughts

I really like this wallet. The small magnets keep the wallet clasped but still allow easy opening. Even loaded with cards and bills, the Distil Union Wally Bifold 5.0 maintains a slim profile and easily fits in my front pocket. Back pocket carriers won’t have to remove their wallet whenever they sit down since it is so thin. I was able to put a lot more cards and bills in the Wally 5.0 than my usual cardholder without added bulk. If you are in the market for a new wallet then definitely check out the Distil Union Wally Bifold 5.0 and their many other offerings first.
