REVIEW – I have suffered from poor circulation in my legs and feet for nearly half my life. I also suffer from bouts of plantar fasciitis in my feet. Gotta love getting older. Over the years, I tried several different compression sox and sleeves. They all worked okay but were not perfect. So when I got the chance to review the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager, I jumped in with both feet and legs.
What is it?
The Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager is a home massager which uses airbags to pressurize and massage your legs and feet.
What’s in the box?
- 2 Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager wraps
- Digital remote
- Power adaptor
- Users manual
Design and features
The Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager leg wraps came folded and wrapped in plastic. They seem to be made of a quality nylon-type material and are well constructed. Each wrap has five strong velcro straps that run from the foot up to the thigh. The wraps are adjustable to fit any size foot and leg up to 30-inches.
There is an air tube attached to the back of each wrap. Each wrap is marked (L) left and (R) right. And a rubber coating keeps them from becoming kinked during use.
Inside each wrap, 6 inflatable airbags provide kneading massage from your toes to thighs. There is also a heating element at the bottom of the foot pad. Heating the soles of your feet is said to promote increased circulation.
The Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager remote lets you control the intensity level and massage programs. It also controls the heat settings. The top of the remote has buttons for Program, On/Off/Intensity, and Heat.
On the front side of the remote, there are ports that the air tubes plug into.
Rubber feet on the bottom of the remote keep it from sliding around.
The Mountrax Air CompRession Foot and Leg Massager has six massage programs, Auto, Shiatsu, Relax, Kneading, Leg Point, and Foot Point. And you can choose from three intensity levels, Weak, Middle, and Strong.
Lastly, the massager has an automatic turnoff feature. It will automatically shut off after 10 consecutive minutes of use.
Setup and performance
Setting up the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager is pretty straightforward. Putting the wraps on for the first time was a little cumbersome. But after a couple of uses, it became easier. A little trick I learned was keeping the foot portion of the wrap secured. This allowed me to slide my foot into it without struggling with adjusting the velcro every time. After the wraps are on, it is just a matter of attaching the inflation tubes to the remote and turning the unit on.
Turning the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager on is done by holding the On/Off button for 3-seconds. The button is also used for toggling between the various intensity settings. The Program Button allows you to do the same for the massage Programs. Green lights will indicate which Program and Intensity setting is being used.
For my first go-around with the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager, I used the Auto Program. Auto cycles the massager through each Program. While keeping the intensity weak and heat on low.
I was immediately impressed with how good the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager felt. It actually felt like someone was massaging my legs and feet. I was also surprised by how intense the compressions could be at times. The overall feeling was fantastic.
The unit automatically shuts down after 10 minutes, and I have to say I was disappointed because it felt so good. However, the manual states that maximum daily use should be limited to 10 minutes. I guess, in this case, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
Afterward, my legs and feet felt great. If I had to describe it, I would say they felt refreshed. And it definitely helped to reduce any pain or fatigue I was experiencing.
Since receiving the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager, I have tested the various programs and intensities. Each has its merits, and I really don’t have a favorite (honestly, I like them all). It is just a matter of finding out which one works best for you.
I use the Mountrax Air Compression Foot and Leg Massager daily as part of my recovery routine. I especially like to use it after my workouts at the gym or after long bike rides.
