REVIEW – To me, the prettiest case on a phone is no case on a phone. However, when you’re as much of a klutz as I am, that’s not really an option. That is why I’m very happy to have the UAG Plyo Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G phone case. Its minimalist design keeps my phone safe in my slippery fingers while not overwhelming the phone’s design.

Design and features
The Plyo series case is minimalist in design but doesn’t skimp protection, which is great because it is a sad fact that I regularly drop my phone. At the same time, though, I don’t need to advertise my butter fingers with a phone case that adds bulk and weight to my already packed handbag.
UAG is known for highly protective phone cases that meet military specifications. This one is UAG’s slimmest case and yet still offers military-grade drop protection, which involves “test dropping” the phone in the case 26 times at a height of 48 inches. If the phone doesn’t sustain any damage, it passes. I noticed they didn’t say what they dropped the phone on, which I think is kind of a key fact to omit. I mean, my phone without a case would be perfectly safe if I dropped it on a stack of pillows, but I’ll take their word for it and assume it was a hard surface.
You might notice in some of the photos that the corners are subtly bulbous, which consist of “web of hollow cells” according to their literature and the shell itself has scratch resistant skid pads. There is a small lip around the camera bulge and exposed screen side that also protects the face and rear surfaces. I was slightly worried that the lip would make accessing the edge panel harder to do but it doesn’t.
The case is compatible with wireless charging and I didn’t have any trouble with the phone’s buttons or plugging it into any charging cables or wired earbuds. It should be noted that I didn’t test the case with making wireless payments since I haven’t gone to any stores during the pandemic, but the company literature says that it should work just fine. The material they used for the shell is lint resistant and also designed to reduce friction when you pull it out of your pocket.
This case only comes in one color, which is clear. The photos on the website show it with a slight gray tint (they call it ice), but you can see that it is clear in my pictures. Since the phone only comes in black and gray, it blends nicely.
