Design and features

Setup

This SSD is truly plug-and-play. No setup required. No external power supply needed.

It comes with both a USB C to USB C data cable and USB C to USB A data cable, and also has a spot to attach a lanyard.

The design is very sleek, and it’s offered in blue, black, silver, and red.

It’s touted as having “universal compatibility,” but that’s slightly overstated. To work with Android phones, it must have a type C port that supports the OTG function so that it can work with USB peripherals. And it’s important to note that Apple phones are not supported with this SSD.

However, it does work on Apple computers and tablets.

The Orico SSD is compatible with Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Android systems, and can be used on PC and MacBook.

Performance

We’ve used this SSD to store music files that were taking up a lot of space on other devices. Mason also found that his games were eating up his PC storage, so he’s begun keeping this tucked behind his computer and using it to store his new games with great results. It’s fast, easy to access, and simple to run.

The Amazon description says it has better performance than USB flash drives, and we completely agree.

What I like

  • Simple and fast
  • Sleek design

What I’d change

  • Add support for Apple phones

Final thoughts

This solid-state drive is nice looking and does its job well.
