NEWS – Artists who use pencils as their medium will be interested in learning more about battery powered erasers. Yeah, who knew? Not me! But apparently, battery powered erasers are a thing. Like the AFMAT battery powered eraser shown above, they are powered by batteries (big surprise!) and they give you finer control over your erasing.
This particular eraser features two sizes of eraser tips. A larger eraser works better and faster for bigger areas and the smaller 2.3mm eraser works best for fine tuning smaller areas with precision erasing. The AFMAT comes with 180 eraser tips and is powered by 2 AAA batteries.
Amazon sells many different models, but I liked this one better than others because it has what looks like a more comfortable pen shape, while others are larger and appear awkward to use. Head over to Amazon to browse through all the battery powered erasers or you can buy the AFMAT electric eraser for $12.19.

Electric erasers have been around for ever. I used them in my drafting classes in high school and I know they were around for much longer than that. They worked very well for erasing ink from Velum ‘paper’.
Scott, how have I missed them all these years? 😉
Check out these eBay listings- http://tinyurl.com/te423km. These were the same type I used in HS in the mid/late 70s. Since the eraser was much thicker that ones in the review, you’d use an eraser shield to protect other elements of the drawing- http://tinyurl.com/vl7zots. It would have been a game changer to have a battery powered .23mm eraser then!
That one doesn’t look like it would be easy/comfortable to use for fine erasing work.
