NEWS – Many people own pets because they provide them with precious companionship. But what happens if it’s no longer practical to care for a pet? The Tombot Puppy, “Jennie”, was created to fill this need and thus was not intended to be a toy. She is a realistic robot puppy created by Tom Stevens, CEO of Tombot. He was inspired to create Jennie to help those like his mother. She had Alzheimer’s and found comfort in a pet, but unfortunately could no longer care for her companion. With Jennie, anyone can have a wonderful lapdog.

She’s a super cute puppy who has many sensors that detect when and where you pet her and she responds accordingly – she wags her tail, tilts her head, and perks up her ears! Using her built-in speaker, she even sounds like a real puppy and she can respond with playful barks to a list of voice commands. Over time, the creators intend on adding new actions and commands via updates to her associated app.

Jennie is made using antimicrobial and hypoallergenic materials and is also made to be affordable. You can pre-order (and find more info about) your Tombot Puppy right now for $399 at the Tombot website.

  2. This is a comment and a question. Many elderly people don’t have internet or smart phones. They don trust the technology. Will Jennie function well for them?

  3. I have had to give my mini schnauzer away as I couldn’t care for her due to Rheumatoid Arthritis long covid and pneumonia. A year down the line I am so depressed and lonely and it’s due to having no dog.
I haven’t got the money to buy this remarkable dog, but I think it’s wonderful that there are people in the world who have thought of this fantastic idea.Do you ever think the price will drop?

    1. Christine – I am so sorry that you had to give up your mini schnauzer! You must really miss him or her. I am not affiliated with the company, but I would imagine that in the future the Tombot Puppy will come down in price.

So many people are battling loneliness and depression especially now during this pandemic – you are not alone. There are people in my life that are battling loneliness, anxiety and depression (I’m doing all I can think of to help them however I can). I’ve seen the struggle firsthand.

Did you know that there are places you can volunteer for remotely if you are unable to leave your home (https://www.volunteermatch.org/)? And there might be a pet therapy organization around you that you can contact to see if they might be able to help. Do you have any friends, family, or neighbors with pets? Maybe you could get together with them to visit with both them and their pets? Heck, if you were near, we could get together and chat! 🙂

Please take care of yourself! Reach out to someone if you need help. I hope and pray that your health improves and that you are able to find something or someone that helps with your loneliness and depression.

    2. Hi I am really looking forward in purchasing this wonderful robot puppy for myself. When will she be ready for purchasing in the United Kingdom please? Regards Sarah
