Every year when Jeanne and I go to Florida for vacation, we talk about taking along one of our metal detectors to hunt the beaches for “treasure”. So far we’ve never actually taken one with us because we’d have to dismantle it to put in our luggage. That wouldn’t be a huge hardship, but we’ve been too lazy to do it. I think I may have found an alternative to taking one of our older heavier detectors. The Minelab GO-FIND Metal Detector is a small 2.3lb metal detector that folds up for easy carry in a suitcase or for storage when you’re not using it. The GO-FIND features a 8 inch waterproof search coil and an easy to read meter that shows whether your target is trash or treasure. Just unfold it, press the power button and start looking for treasure. Their detectors are powered by 4 AA batteries and some models can even pair with your smartphone. Prices start at $225 and go up to $299. Visit Minelab for more info and Amazon to price check / order.
