The COBURNS minimalist iPad stand is a current Kickstarter campaign.  These iPad stands look like some plastic phone stands I’ve seen, but the wood brings them up a notch.  The two pieces have magnets inside that hold the pieces together until you’re ready to use them, and there’s a felt loop that can attach them to a keychain.  They can hold your tablet in portrait or landscape orientation.  For $19, you’ll receive a birdseye maple or a pau ferro stand to fit your choice of iPad (3, 4, or Air) or iPad mini (original or Retina).  Although funding continues through Thursday, Dec 5, 10:00pm EST, the funding goal has been more than met.  Shipping is scheduled for December 2013.

  2. @Alan Yes, they are iPad-specific. If you notice the pledge levels, you’ll see you have to specify a particular iPad model. Apparently, the slots are cut to fit a specific iPad model. If you have a tablet that’s similar in size, but just a bit thinner than one of the iPads, you might find it suitable. To be sure, you could ask your question on the Kickstarter page.
