The Smart LED Desk Lamp from Satechi is the ultimate in energy-efficient desk lighting. It uses a bank of LEDs that use only 1/8th the energy used by an incandescent bulb and less than half that of a fluorescent bulb. A touch panel toggles the lamp through four brightness levels: study mode (brightest, bluest light), reading mode (bright, blue light), relaxation mode (dimmer, warmer light), and bedtime mode (dimmest, warmer light). (Click the image for a better view of the four modes.) The Smart LED lamp has flexible joints that allow you to bend the lamp to get the light exactly where you need it. It will provide 40,000 hours of light with a color-rendering index of 90. In addition to using less power, this lamp has no mercury or other environmentally damaging materials. There’s also a USB port on the back of the lamp’s base that can be used to charge your devices. The Smart LED Desk lamp is available in black or white for $99.99.

Wonder if it will charge my iPad mini?
OK…but how does it compare to this $10 one from IKEA…:http://www.rainydaymagazine.com/RDM2011/Home/October/Week3/RDMHomeOct1711.htm#IKEA_Jansjo
If you want to go off-the-grid, then the IKEA rechargeable may be more your speed:http://www.rainydaymagazine.com/RDM2009/Home/November/Week2/RDMHomeNov1309.htm#IKEA_LEDSolarLamp
Both are just so inexpensive that it is hard to pass up. We couldn’t 🙂
@RainyDayInterns They don’t really compare. They don’t have as many LEDs, and they have a single dim, warm lighting level. They also don’t have a USB charging port, and they only have 20,000 hours of light. They are much cheaper, though.
I’ve had one of these on my desk for quite a few months now. Got it from Amazon, I think.
Works flippin’ great.
