I’m posting this so everyone won’t think that I’m a complete coffee hater… Dang it, I can’t lie. I AM a complete coffee hater. But in the interest of not alienating my java lovin peeps, here’s a one of a kind gadget that makes even me smile. The Textspresso is a robotic barista powered by a cloud texting service called Zipwhip. It’s located in the Zipwhip’s Seattle offices and is a one of a kind espresso machine that has been retrofitted with an Android phone to receive text messages by which it reacts to make a perfect cup of joe. Text it on your way to work and you’ll have a nice hot cup waiting for you when you arrive. Now I just need one that will create me the perfect cup of Irish Breakfast tea. At some point, Zipwhip will be offering the source code and plans to make your own text powered espresso machine. By the way, their service allows you to send and receive text messages from your computer using your main mobile number.

Thanks for the news tip Kelsey!

  2. he had me at “robot-arm with servo motors”, and “edible-ink”…

very cool… but cleaning the machine is the biggest headache of any espresso hardware. If only the robot could take care of that as well :p
