I used Apple’s Bumper Case for ages on my iPhone 4. I liked it, but what I really wanted was a bumper-like case that also covered the back. Tech21 somehow read my mind and produced the Impact Band for iPhone 4/4S. The Impact Band is made of TPU with a soft-touch finish. A band of D3O ®, a military-grade shock absorption material, is integrated into all the impact areas. You see the D30 as the orange band in the clear version of the case, but it’s found inside the opaque-colored cases as well. Tech21 says that testing has shown “the protection value of cases with D30 is up to 71% higher than the leading cases in the market.” The Impact Band protects the sides of the iPhone 4/4S, and it comes with a transparent polycarbonate backplate that can be used to protect the back of the iPhone, if desired. The Band measure 4.8″ X 2.6″ X 0.47″ and weighs 0.85 ounces. The Impact Band for iPhone 4/4S is available in clear, pink, or black for £24.99 (about $39). Tech21 ships to the US for $9.49.

“…I really wanted a bumper-like case that also covered the back”
and how is this exactly covers the back of the phone?
Phones are not always droped on the flat surface.
@qwerty As I said in the article, above: “The Impact Band protects the sides of the iPhone 4/4S, and it comes with a transparent polycarbonate backplate that can be used to protect the back of the iPhone, if desired.”
I had one of these for my iPhone 3GS – horrible, bulky thing. Impossible to use if carrying phone in a trouser pocket. Just… ugly. If I wanted extra protection I would use an Otterbox or Pelican case.
