The HP Touchpad that’s been available in the US since July finally has a release date of August 15th in Australia. Following it’s permanent price drop in the US, the Australian release price will also be $100 cheaper than first indicated. Harvey Norman will be the initial exclusive retail partner.
Will webOs have the features and the the backing of the development community to be able to compete with Apple and Android in Oz ?
I must admit I have a soft spot for any Palm based OS as my first handheld was a PalmPilot 1000 ( with the 512KB upgrade ) 🙂

I too have a soft spot for Palm. My first PDA (besides some Casio databank watches) was a Palm III (waited until the palm series had a back-light) and i went all the way to the Tungsten C (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_Tungsten#Tungsten_C) before moving on to Windows Mobile.
I have a client that still uses a Visor for contacts and I have to trouble-shoot from time to time.
I think I even sent you or Judie an old palm I had that was going into a museum/retro room someone was making years ago.
Sounds similar to my “evolution”. Various Casio Organizers then the PalmPilot 1000,Palm III, M500,M505 then Windows Mobile via the Compaq Ipaqs. 3970, 5505, 2470 all the way up to the HP Data Messnger.
Now onto Android and beyond 🙂
