Topaz Adjust from Topaz Labs is a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop that can quickly create single-frame HDR effects. The plug-in works with Photoshop CS3-CS5 and Photoshop Elements 6-9 on Windows and Mac computers. (It will work with some other platform-specific applications, too.) With Topaz Adjust, you can easily correct and balance image color and exposure. Built-in noise reduction and shadow and highlight protection bring out details in your pictures that would otherwise be lost. Thirty pre-sets and manual adjustments allow you to achieve “subtle, realistic adjustments, that will make your image look as real or as true-to-life as possible, to artistic HDR effects that blur the difference between reality and illusion.” Topaz Adjust is $49.99 at Topaz Labs.

Cool idea, but WAY overpriced for a plug-in.
The problem with most HDR photos is people just go nuts!
The photos, most of the time, look cartoonish.
If done correctly, HDR photos really look nice, but I don’t see how a single photo, can be done in HDR style. Maybe the plugin assumes the photo is exposed properly (using the histogram?),
then takes that photo, makes a temporary copy underexposed, then one overexposed, and uses those three to create one photo.
Personally, for 50 bucks, I’d just shoot the three photos and plug them into photoshop, where I would have better control of the curves, shadows & highlights.
