Not long after I started writing for The Gadgeteer, I posted an article asking if gadgets were just for guys. At the time, it seemed that manufacturers thought making something pink was all it took to make it appeal to women. It seems that Hercules has started to think outside the pink box, and they’ve introduced some computer speakers they think might appeal to women. These speakers look like cut black diamonds; they are mounted in clear acrylic supports, so the diamonds appear to float above your desktop. The speakers have a black-lacquered look, and they connect via a single USB cable. (There is no internal battery, so they are for computer use only.) They come with a wired remote to adjust or mute the volume. They are magnetic-shielded, sized 3.6″ X 2.4″ X 3.4″, and they come with a compartmentalized black velvet travel case so they can go where your laptop goes. The XPS Diamond 2.0 USB speakers will be available in April of this year; the suggested retail price is $39.99.
