We all know that making and answering calls with a mobile phone while driving distracts you from the task at hand – actually driving the vehicle. Solutions to this problem include various hands-free systems like Bluetooth headsets and speakerphones. Plantronics has just introduced a new addition to the last category. It’s the K100 Bluetooth in-car speakerphone. It features dual microphones, noise reduction technology, voice alerts and large, easy-to-locate buttons including a dedicated mute button. It also offers A2DP so that can use it to listen to music through your phone. And if that weren’t enough features to get you interested, it also has an FM transmitter so that you can route all the sounds through your car’s stereo. The K100 is available now for $79.99.

I bought one of these after seeing it here on Gadgeteer and it just arrived. It’s great. It makes my car feel like it has Microsoft Sync. The FM transmitter is powerful enough to overcome other FM stations on the selected channel. It connects to my Bluetooth phone reliably and quickly. It’s a pleasure to play Pandora over my car stereo without taking the phone out of my pocket.
@Robert Thanks for the mini review. I have one here that I need to write a review of soon. Now I know it’s going to be a good one . Thanks!
Just recieved the plantronics K100 for a birthday present from my wife. I’ve synced the device to my vehicle and have it streaming through a fm station on my car radio. However, I cannot seem to get the pandora application on my blackberry to stream through the radio like the phone calls. Now in all fairness, I’ve managed to download the pandora app even though my cell phone carrier is T Mobile. According to T Mobile and Blackberry, the pandora app is not compatible with the T mobile network. Could this supposed incompatability be restricting the pandora streaming feature. Could you please give the step by step procedure that allows your pandora to stream through your plantronics k100?
Thanks,
Greg G.
@greg We’re not a support site for Plantronics products. That was just a news posting about the product. I do have a sample that they sent me to review, but it’s going to be a little while before I’m able to get that review posted. I suggest that you contact Plantronics directly for help with your problem.
