FastMac has announced a 110V wall power outlet that can be used to replace any existing wall outlet. The TruePower U Socket contains two USB charging ports in addition to the standard 3-prong power outlet ports. The USB ports aren’t vampires – they don’t pull any power unless something is plugged in for charging. FastMac says they are waiting for final UL Approval before shipping, so they are taking pre-orders now and expecting to ship in the second quarter of 2010. The True Power U Socket is currently selling for $19.95, and you won’t be charged until the product is ready for shipping.
Specifications:
Input voltage: AC 100 to 240V 50/60Hz
USB input current: 80mA
Output voltage: USB: DC 5.0V 600mA
Operation temperature: -15 to 45 Degrees Celsius
Relative humidity: < 95%
Air pressure: 86 to 106kPa

Too bad not enough amps to charge the iPad. =(

Great line.
You won’t be charged. Nor will your devices be charged.
Same thought on the iPad…
@Jackie Cheng and Brent Have you guys seen those USB cables that plug into two USB ports to power higher-demand devices? I wonder if using one of those double-ended cables would work to charge the iPad?
This is pretty cool. Would save me from plugging a couple of adapters into one outlet to charge our two iPhones.
It was posted on the Do it yourself section, where are the schematics and stuff?????
