rotgutonixThis a gadget is still in the prototype stages, but I thought all partying gadgeteers might like to get a heads up about it. The Rotgutonix is a small handheld device that can detect adulterated alcohol, which is commonly known as rotgut. It has a built-in chemical sensor that can detect the quality of several alcoholic beverage brands (JB, Johnny Walker, DYC, Habana Club, Brugal and Pampero). If the drink in question is rotgut, a skull and cross bones will be displayed on the LCD.

  2. A few years ago I took a business trip to Bulgaria. Bar owners were cutting their liquor with all kinds of stuff. Sometimes dangerous substances that could make one very ill. This could find a good market there. At the advice of the businessmen who visited I traveled no where alone. This is the only place I’ve traveled where I felt that way.
