If you like using those virtual keyboards that are projected on the table in front of you, you might be interested in this keyboard projector.  If you are also a die-hard Star Wars fan, you’ll definitely be interested in the R2-D2 Original Sound Virtual Laser Keyboard.  The robot stands 3.8” L x 2.75” W x 1.9” D and uses a red diode to project a keyboard that’s 9.45″ X 3.96″ in size at a distance of 3.95″ from the base of the robot.  The internal lithium-ion battery gives you 2 hours of type time after a 3-hour charge.  The Bluetooth keyboard (Bluetooth v3.0 Class 2,HID Profile) can sense up to 350 characters per minute when used with a compatible device:  iOS 4, iOS 5, iOS 6, Android 4.0 and higher, Windows XP/Vista/7/8, Mac OS X, and Blackberry 10.  BigBadToyStore is accepting pre-orders of the R2-D2 Original Sound Virtual Laser Keyboard for $299.99; shipment is expected in January 2015, and you won’t be charged until the unit ships.

But not iOS 7 or 8? That certainly limits it.

So just because the hardware is encapsulated in an R2D2 casing the price goes up by over 200 bucks from a standard version? Nice try but I’ll pass!
