cocoon grid it wrap macbook airThe Grid-It Wrap for MacBook Air from Cocoon is a minimal case that can organize your smaller gear while protecting your Air.  The Neoprene wrap has a back pocket for the MBA.  The front has a rigid Grid-It panel with its system of woven, rubberized bands that will hold your power supply, cables, external drive, pens, sunglasses, or other small items you need to carry with you.  A Neoprene flap wraps over everything to protect everything inside.  The Grid-It Wrap can be used alone, or it could fit inside a bigger bag to protect the MBA from your school books or office gear.  There are two sizes:  the 11″ Grid-It Wrap and the 13″ Grid-It Wrap, sized for the 11″ MBA and the 13″ MBA, respectively.  Both are available in black only and cost $49.99.

  2. Do they have one for the 15″ MacBook Pro Retina Display? If not, do you think it would fit in the one made for the Air, or is it pretty tight?

@Todd This is just a news item, so I haven’t actually had one in my hands. I have seen the 15″ Retina MacBook Pro and both sizes of the Airs, and I don’t think anything custom-designed for the Air would fit a 15″ Retina. The new MBP hasn’t been out long, so Cocoon probably hasn’t had time to get anything to market even if they planned to. Cocoon has other cases that incorporate the Grid-It system. Follow the link to the Cocoon home page in the article to see what they have for 15″ MBP now.

I’ve been using an 11″ GridIt for a few weeks now and love it! Makes changing from my work bag to my day-off-cafe-visiting bag much easier – just pull the Grid-it, leave the work shirt, name badge, coffee K-cups, mints, etc., in the larger bag, put the GridIt in the Tom Bihn Cafe bag with my Bluetooth keyboard and iPad, and I’m off.
