Griffin Survivor case can take your worst

As a phone case junkie, I like cases that are sleek and appealing to the eye.  But I have a special place in my heart for cases that are built like an armored personnel carrier.  Behold the Survivor case for iPhone 4 and iPod touch (4th gen) from Griffin Technology.  Like the granddaddy of rugged cases, the Otterbox Defender, Griffin’s Survivor has multiple layers to absorb darn near any punishment you can dish out (check out the video).  The inner layer is a rigid, shatter-resistant polycarbonate frame.  The outer layer is silicone cladding that includes hinged port covers that seal the camera, dock connector, headphone port, hold switch and volume controls.  An integral display shield protects the touchscreen and a detachable belt clip rounds out the set.  Also worth mentioning that the Survivor has been independently tested and certified to meet conditions outlined in US DOD MIL-STD-810 and UK DOD Def-Stan 00-35.  Currently available in black and olive, with pink and white on the way, each for $49.99.  What’s your favorite “tough” case?

My son has one of those cases. He is extremely active and hard on all things. This phone case has survived him, roof positive it can survive anything. I am looking to purchase one for me. Love it .

@Marci – Thanks for that feedback. I am thinking about getting one of these for my iPhone 4S also. I have an Otterbox Defender but there are some things I don’t like about it and this Griffin Survivor looks like a good alternative for those times when I expect to put my iPhone through the Chuck Norris treatment.
