The newly announced EliteFolio Carbon Fiber iPad 2 case from Innopocket is handmade from 100% real carbon fiber. A molded shell fits onto the back of the iPad 2, and another piece folds over to protect the screen when not in use. The cover is attached to the back piece with a patented stainless steel hinge system that rotates 360 degrees and allows the cover to fold flat against the back or to form a stand to support the iPad 2. The EliteFolio Carbon Fiber case for iPad 2 sells for $199.00. Innopocket is taking pre-orders now for shipment in late April 2011.

That looks pretty good but the price is kind of steep plus I have a smart cover so I would only need protection for the back.
I guess this is the type case the CEO of Dell was thinking of when he said buying an iPad would cost $1500-$1600 fully outfitted.
I was recently looking for a carbon fiber case for my iPhone, and in my research found several places that said carbon fiber actually decreases signal strength. When closed this case would completely encase the iPad in carbon fiber. So I wonder how that would affect performance.
@T. Smythe Richbourg Nah, he was talking about the Dolce & Gabbana iPad case when he said that. The D&G case is a little suitcase-style bag with a sleeve inside for the iPad and a couple of zipper pockets and card slots. It sells for $895! The only way I’d pay $895 for that clunky case would be if it came with a 64GB WiFi/3G iPad 2 WITH the Smart Cover inside it!
I won’t settle than anything less than a case made of moon-rocks that have been melted down and forged to perfection by a sweaty underwear model.
Or, I’ll just let the Gorilla glass do it’s thing being scratch resistant, and let the back get a little scratchy, and live fully and completely, and spend the $200 I save not buying this case on… oh, liquor, maybe?
