tagg pet trackerDid you know that only a very small percentage of lost animals – 10-15% of dogs and 2% of cats –  are ever returned to their owners?   If your pet strays, you need to know immediately so you can retrieve him quickly.  The Tagg Pet Tracker system from Snaptracs, Inc ( a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc) uses GPS to track your dog or cat and let you know immediately if he leaves his defined home area.  The Tagg slides onto your pet’s collar; it’s built to withstand dirt and even water.  If your pet leaves his home area, you’ll be notified on your computer or smartphone.  You can locate your pet on a map just by pressing a button so you’ll know where to go pick him up.  The collar attachment is intended for pets over 10 pounds.  It costs $199.99 and includes a year of service.  It will begin shipping in September.  You can sign up at the Tagg website to be notified when the device is ready to ship.

  2. Good grief that is heck of a price & as for GPS tracking huh according to the GPS I live in the middle of an Industrial Estate about 2 miles from where I actually live. So I wouldn’t trust it to find my dog! 🙁

  3. How about buy one of those cheap tiny pay as you go phones and have your phone number programmed into it, then hang it around the dog’s neck. Whoever find the dog calls you up and then let them keep the phone as an award 🙂

  4. @Bob Teddy already got the best, so no iPhone for him. I could afford to write my phone number on his collar with a Sharpie…

  5. I have several thousands of dollars and affection invested in my dog. It is difficult and expensive to purchase insurance for reinbursement if he is lost or stolen. I think $200 is a very reasonable price to pay if it allows me to locate my dog in case he goes missing. I wonder when this device will be made available for alzheimers patients?
