REVIEW – Since my kids moved out, the oven doesn’t see much action. It’s like using a bucket loader to scoop ice cream – overkill for most cooking tasks. Conversely, the stove top, microwave, and air fryer get most of the mealtime action, so it makes sense to get the most “bang for the buck” in terms of utility, save energy, and simplify cleaning. That’s why I was excited to look at Ounin’s KXW240-160A 11-in-1 air fryer oven.

Design and features
My previous air fryer oven (reviewed here) performed well, but some indicators stopped working, making it challenging to find the correct mode. So, it was time to think about a replacement. Ounin came to the rescue with its model KXW240-160A, a 24-liter 11-in-one Combo.
It arrived in a large, well-packaged box. At about 30 pounds, it has some heft.
The Air Fryer has a sleek, futuristic look. Most of the housing is stainless steel.
The air circulating fan and heating element rest above the cooking space.
A fryer basket, rack, tray (also stainless, Yay!), and an oven mitt accompany the Air Fryer. Power feeds through a grounded cord. At 1600 watts, it draws a maximum of over 13 Amps. It’s probably not a good idea to share the circuit with other high-current devices, such as a toaster, microwave, or hair dryer. If it does, keep a flashlight close because you’ll probably be finding a path to your circuit breaker panel and maybe resetting some clocks.
The interior is all stainless steel and should be easy to clean (more on that later).
One intriguing feature of the Ounin Combo Air Fryer is its steam capabilities. A tray under the door holds one liter of water for about an hour of cook time. If you forget to fill the water tray, the pump makes a fairly loud humming noise :-).
My wife occasionally makes steamed cakes and is looking forward to taking them for a test run.
The Air Fryer’s controls are on the door handle. The start/stop button and scroll wheel are on the far right. The adjacent section of buttons (reheat, temp, light, menu, time, and power) is touch-sensitive. The temperature and time are in the center, and the modes (air fry, bake, roast, broil, pizza, steam, steam roast, sterilize, and dehydrate) are on the left and selectable via a combination of “menu” and the scroll wheel.
The time display counts down the seconds until the timer expires. I like it very much!
After initial power-up, Ounin recommends wiping the inside of the Air Fryer and running a “sterilize” cycle. A few seconds into the 10-minute cycle, condensation from steam filled the oven’s interior. Steam is beneficial for keeping the air fryer clean – run a sterilize cycle and clean up any spills with a damp sponge. Delightful!
It may seem like a trivial feature, but I appreciate that the interior light stays on until turned off again or until cooking finishes.
When “steam” is finished, a little water collects at the bottom of the oven and can be easily wiped up with a sponge or paper towel. I steamed some gyoza, and it was incredibly yummy!
A little warning about using the steam function after conventional cooking…
Over the next few days, I used the Ounin for most of my cooking. Hot dogs perfectly browned in the “Air Fryer” mode, pizza cheese exquisitely crisped on “Pizza” mode, “Broiler” charred some cheese tortillas to perfection, and “Bake” warmed samosas for lunch in 10 minutes. I couldn’t have asked for more.
Seasoned steam-roasted tilapia took about 30 minutes. My wife was very pleased with the results and said it was better than frying in oil. For me, it was less messy, with no oil splattering everywhere. When I started writing for The-Gadgeteer.com, I never thought I would be posting a picture of a cooked fish :-).
Final Thoughts
Looking back on the last month of meal prep, the oven saw zero use. The microwave, stove burners, and air fryer served about equally. For me, the air fryer makes sense, especially in the summer months when the oven pumps unwanted heat into the kitchen. Ounin’s 11-in-One Combo is faster, crisps food nicely, doesn’t need lengthy preheating, is much easier to clean, and has a ton of features! Everything I cooked in it was outstanding! Exceptionally well done (pun intended), Ounin! Thank you, I love it!
