REVIEW – Two years ago, I reviewed the usmile Y10 Pro electric toothbrush and was very impressed by how well it cleaned my teeth and the amazing multi-month battery life. I was so impressed that I was still using it until they sent me their brand new usmile Y20 Pro smart electric toothbrush. It looks almost identical to the previous, so how is it better? Let’s find out and also check out the usmile C10 water flosser that they sent along too.

Price: $209.99 (Y20 Pro), $124.99 (C10)
Where to buy: USMILE and Amazon (much better price)

What is it?

The usmile Y20 Pro is an electric toothbrush with a built-in timer to help you brush the perfect length of time in each area of your mouth and an app that you can watch in real time to help you know when and where to brush for effective cleaning.

What’s included?

  • usmile Y20 Pro toothbrush
  • 2x brush heads
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Wall hanger
  • User manual

Design and features

At first glance, the usmile Y20 Pro looks identical to the previous model. It features a comfortable handle with a circular smart screen, a main button, and a secondary button positioned below it (marked by a white indentation).

On the bottom of the handle is a rubber plug that protects the USB-C charging port.

Yay, no proprietary cable needed. But what about battery life? The previous model claimed 6 months of use from one charge, and I was able to achieve 8 months of battery life by using it once a day (I was still using a manual brush once a day, too). This newest model only claims 90 days of use per charge.

A shorter battery life isn’t an improvement, but let’s see if something else compensates for that.

The brush heads are slightly different this time around. The brush has three sections with large-ish gaps between them and the back of the head is padded with silicone.

Here’s the usmile Y20 Pro toothbrush assembled and ready for its maiden voyage across my pearly whites.

Performance

Using the Y20 Pro isn’t much different from the Y10 Pro, other than the Y20 Pro “talks” to you. It has a bone conduction speaker that will say hello when you press the main button and it will tell you when your brushing session has finished. The voice is a little hard to understand as it’s not very loud. I think it could be a lot better if it were louder and if it “yelled” at you for stopping your session too soon. 😉 But as it is, I don’t pay much attention to the voice prompts (you can disable them). I listen for the tone that is played to prompt me to move to a different area of my mouth. Or, I use the app. More about that below.

The Y20 Pro feels more powerful than the Y10 Pro. After using it twice daily for the last couple of weeks, I can tell that it is cleaning my teeth even better than the Y10 Pro. How do I know this? I have an issue with plaque buildup on the inside of my front lower teeth. My dentist always has to scrape in that area when I go for my dental cleanings twice a year. He says it’s a trouble spot for me and now that I’ve been using the Y20 Pro, I can see that it’s doing a better job than any electric toothbrush that I’ve ever used before. Yay! I am sure that will mean less scraping next time I go to the dentist. So for that reason, I’ll let the lower battery life slide. 🙂

usmile app

But wait, there’s more! The Y20 Pro is “smarter” than the Y10 Pro because there’s a companion app. With the app, you can track your sessions and customize the mode. I like the dual morning/night mode, that will provide an efficient clean in the morning and a deeper clean at night.

Brushing Modes
Smart Mode: Intelligent cleaning that adapts to your oral needs for an optimized brushing experience.
Cavity Prevention Mode: Targets high-risk areas for cavities with enhanced cleaning, ideal for those who frequently consume sweets.
Coffee Stain Removal Mode: Identifies areas prone to discoloration and provides powerful stain removal.
Dual Morning & Night Mode: Morning Mode: Focuses on efficient cleaning to save brushing time.
Night Mode: Provides deep cleaning to remove bacteria accumulated throughout the day.
Gum Sensitivity Mode: Gentle cleaning to minimize irritation for sensitive gums.

You can watch the app as you brush. It will display a timer countdown and direct you to move to a different area of your mouth during the session. You can also set trouble areas and check a brushing report. At first, the app was kind of cool, but I  quickly stopped using it and brush my teeth normally.

Final thoughts on the Y20 Pro

The usmile Y20 Pro builds on what I loved about the Y10 Pro, mainly with stronger cleaning power and smart extras like the dual day/night modes. After using it regularly, I can honestly say it handles plaque better than any toothbrush I’ve tried and I’m expecting my next dentist visit to be a little less “scrape-y,” which is a big win.

That said, I wish the battery life hadn’t dropped so much from the previous model, and the high price makes it a bit of a splurge. If you want the absolute best clean and enjoy having app features (or at least the option to use them), this brush is worth checking out. But if ultra‑long battery life is your top priority, you might prefer sticking with the Y10 Pro.

usmile C10 water flosser

usmile c10 10

usmile also sent me their C10 portable dental flosser.

What’s included?

usmile c10 1

  • usmile C10 portable dental flosser
  • 3x nozzles
  • proprietary USB charging cable
  • User manual

Design and features

usmile c10 2

The C10 water flosser is designed to collapse for travel. In the image above,

usmile c10 3

The water reservoir is removable for easy cleaning.

usmile c10 4

The front of the handle has a power button, mode indicator LEDs, and a mode button at the bottom.

usmile c10 5

The back side has a protective cover over the charging port, which unfortunately uses a proprietary USB cable. Grrrrrrr.

usmile c10 6

On top of the C10 Pro is the port for the nozzle and the nozzle release button.

usmile c10 9

Included with the usmile C10 water flosser are three different nozzles.  There’s a regular flossing nozzle, one that I think is for braces, and another one has a small brush at the end. During my testing, I used the regular nozzle.

usmile c10 7

To fill the water reservoir, you have to open the cap on the back.

usmile c10 8

I found it slightly awkward to open that cap.

Performance

usmile c10 11

Using the usmile C10 water flosser isn’t difficult. It performs well. I found it a bit awkward to hold and open the water cap compared to the flosser I have been using (Oclean A10 AirPump water flosser), which I absolutely love because it’s small yet powerful.

Final thoughts on the C10 water flosser

The usmile C10 does the job well and gives you plenty of flexibility with its three nozzles and a roomy water tank. It’s travel‑friendly with its collapsible design, but in actual use, it feels a little bulky, and that stubborn water cap, plus the proprietary charging cable, kept it from being a favorite.

For the price, I expected a more refined design. If size and convenience matter most to you, there are leaner flossers out there (like the Oclean A10 that I mentioned) that feel easier to use day‑to‑day. Still, the C10 delivers a solid clean, and if you don’t mind the quirks, it could be a good choice.

Final final thoughts 😉

Both the usmile Y20 Pro toothbrush and C10 water flosser bring powerful cleaning to your daily routine, but each comes with its own set of tradeoffs. The Y20 Pro really stands out for cleaning performance and smart features, making it a great pick if you want a techy boost to your oral care. Be prepared for a shorter battery life and a higher price tag. The C10 flosser does a solid job, but its bulky feel and fussy charging design make it less handy than some other portable options out there. If you value top-tier cleaning and don’t mind spending a little more, these usmile products could make your dentist proud, but folks who care most about compact design and convenience might want to keep shopping around.

What I like about usmile Y20 Pro electric toothbrush

  • Brushes even better than the Y10 Pro that I’ve been using for the last 2 years!
  • Ability to use an app for reports if you like that kind of thing
  • Audible prompt to move to the next area of your mouth
  • Dual night/day mode

What needs to be improved?

  • Increase battery life
  • It’s expensive

What I like about the usmile C10 water flosser

  • Includes three nozzles
  • Large water tank

What needs to be improved?

  • It’s expensive
  • Water cap is awkward to open
  • Bulky compared to other portable water flossers
  • Don’t use a proprietary cable

Price: $209.99 (Y20 Pro), $124.99 (C10)
