Assembly
Yes, you have to assemble this shelf, but don’t worry, the instructions are easy to follow, and it’s not difficult. It just takes a little time and maybe an extra set of hands.
As always, the first thing I like to do when assembling furniture is to lay everything out on the floor. The first step for assembling the VASAGLE Corner Shelf Stand is to assemble the three supports. Each support is really three pieces that are held together with connectors and screws.
After the connectors are in place, you can screw everything together.
I had hoped to use my cordless screwdriver to help tighten the screws, but I didn’t have the right-sized Allen wrench. Thankfully, the included wrench actually worked really well. Even though it’s small, it allowed me to “crank” the screws tight.
After the supports are assembled, it’s just a matter of attaching the shelves. The only potential gotcha is that you have to make sure you orient the outside supports correctly because the top edges have a slight angle.
This is the part where another set of hands really comes in handy 🙂 I tried making do with a box to help balance the support, but it was a bit of a struggle.
Two shelves are attached and only two more to go.
Almost there! My supervisor is telling me to quit taking pics and finish up!
The top shelf has counter-sunk holes for the screws. In the image above, you can also see the nice “finish” of the shelves. While they are made of fabricated wood, I think they look nice. I was sent the rustic version, but this shelf is also available in other styles/colors.
Here’s the finished shelf. Not bad at all! It’s a smaller version of another shelf that I reviewed last fall (link at the bottom of the review).
There’s one last step you can take. The shelf includes safety straps that you can use to attach it to the wall or to another shelf. This helps prevent a small child from trying to climb the shelf and having it fall on them.
