REVIEW – I have a love-hate relationship with iPhone cases. On the one hand, I don’t want to use one because I don’t want to bulk up my already giant Pro Max phone. But on the other hand, I want to protect my giant investment because Apple doesn’t send me free phones and these phones are max slippery. That’s where a new trend in magnetic iPhone cases come in. Today I want to show you the Atom Studios Soft Snap magnetic iPhone back.

Design and features
The first time I saw this style of case was last year with the Nomad Goods leather magnetic back. I used that cover on my iPhone 15 Pro Max from the minute it arrived until I received my new iPhone 16 Pro Max. I almost bought a new one and then as luck would have it, I was offered the chance to review the Atom Studios Soft Snap backs. Yay!
Atom Studios offers its Soft Snaps in two styles. They sent me both styles, and spoiler alert: I love both of them. In the image above, you see the Soft Snap Agave Leather version, which is only available in Black, and next to it is the Soft Snap with Alara EMF protection, which is available in Arctic Grey and black.
Both covers have an embedded magnetic ring for enhanced MagSafe compatibility along with a soft microfiber lining.
The Soft Back covers offer slim protection and added grip to the back of your phone without bulking it up.
Unlike the Nomad cover, the Atom Studios covers do not require any adhesive to stay in place. The snap to the back of the iPhone for a perfect fit that makes it look like it’s part of the phone.
With smooth rounded edges and raised rings to protect the camera lenses, these covers look and feel amazing.
I’ve always found the glass back of an iPhone to be extremely slippery, so I have used a case only as a way to provide extra grip. The Atom Studios covers do that while not making my phone look ugly.
Using my iPhone with MagSafe chargers, like the one attached to my Bal0lo modular desk stand, worked great. When the phone was removed from the charger, the cover remained securely attached to the back of the phone.
The grey version of the cover offers an additional benefit as it is designed to reduce EMF radiation exposure by 75%. Note: I was not able to test this claim.
The other cover that Atom Studios sent me is their Agave leather cover and it has become my favorite of the two. It looks great paired with my copper-hued Desert Titanium iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The vegan leather, made from cactus leather sourced in Mexico, feels exactly like premium cow leather. It’s smooth and soft and provides the perfect grip while looking awesome.

Final thoughts
If you’re looking for extra grip without the bulk and don’t mind that the sides of your phone won’t be protected, The Atom Studios Soft Snap cases look and feel so good. I can’t wait to see even more of this type of cover as other companies develop their versions.
