CROWDFUNDING NEWS – We talk a lot about EDC items here on The Gadgeteer and as a result, I receive a LOT of emails from companies who are launching crowdfunding campaigns asking me to write about their projects. As you can imagine, I don’t have time to write about all of them, but today I want to tell you about a handful of projects that I think are actually worth mentioning. Today I want to tell you about a flashlight, a multi-tool, and a mini writing instrument. Here we go!
KeySnap Titanium EDC Multitool Keychain Carabiner
What is it?
The KeySnap is an EDC multitool made out of titanium (do we see a trend here?) that features a quick-release mechanism (another trend?), bottle opener, hex wrench, spoke wrench, and a quick-release semi-sharp blade.
Why do I like it?
I like the KeySnap because it can clip to your belt loop and the quick-release blade pulls out when you need to open the latest package of EDC gear that the UPS driver dropped off at your house. And according to the campaign page, it’s TSA-compliant, so yay!

The KeySnap campaign ends on 11/29/23 and they have already successfully met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a KeySnap starting at $49. After the KeySnap campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in January 2024. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
Wayfinder rechargeable quick-release EDC flashlight
What is it?
The Wayfinder is a small quick-release flashlight that has a titanium body, a USB-C rechargeable battery, IPX-8 waterproof rating, and 120-lumen output.
Why do I like it?
The specs that I mentioned above don’t sound super impressive for an EDC flashlight, but the reason why I think the Wayfinder quick-release flashlight is cool is that it has a quick-release magnetic base and a dual-directional pocket clip. You can hang the flashlight from your belt or backpack and quickly remove it when you need a light. Then just as quickly hang it back in place by reattaching it to the magnetic clip. You can also use the magnetic base to attach this light to various metallic objects.

NanoInk: Titanium Quick Release Eternity Pen
What is it?
The NanoInk: Titanium Quick Release Eternity Pen is a keychain-sized or wearable pen that has a titanium body and uses a graphite writing tip.
Why do I like it?
I like the NanoInk: Titanium Quick Release Eternity Pen for a few reasons. The first reason is that it’s tiny and I have a thing for tiny pens. The second reason is that it’s not really a pen at all, but it’s more like an everlasting pencil. I know that graphite-tipped pencils aren’t as nice to write with compared to a good ballpoint pen, but the “ink” on this pen/pencil won’t smear, and I like the idea of never having to worry that it will run out of ink, dry out, etc. I also like that the NanoInk has a cool springloaded clip that you can use to clip it to a necklace if you want to wear it around your neck.
