REVIEW – A few months ago I tested the ACEMAGICIAN AMR5 mini PC and I loved it so much that it is the PC that I used most frequently in my home office for regular browsing, documents, and audio and video editing. Last month, my EDC laptop developed an issue with the power port that will likely require me to open the laptop and replace the port. Since I really would prefer not to do that work on a laptop that is a few years old, I decide to look into buying a new one with the specs that I at least needed and hopefully it would be cost-effective. While in that process, I received the opportunity to test and review this ACEMAGICIAN AMD Ryzen 5 5600U Mini PC. In my mind, it was small enough and powerful enough to be my new EDC PC if it performed well and if I could of course carry the necessary accessories in a compact and manageable way that would fit nicely into my backpack.

The ACEMAGICIAN AMD Ryzen 5 5600U Mini PC Is a small lightweight and compact device. The case is made of plastic. It features all of the ports along the front and back and cooling vents on the sides. The power button is on the top left corner of the front of the case.
Setup
There is not much setup needed for this ACEMAGICIAN AMD Ryzen 5 5600U Mini PC since it is much like any other PC with Windows OS. I did notice some strange restarts and in the beginning, it made me start the process again for some unknown reason. Once I was past that it was smooth sailing.
Performance
The ACEMAGICIAN AMD Ryzen 5 5600U Mini PC runs smoothly and easily and handles applications like Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, and just about any office application. I would easily guess that it would handle most games as well, but I am not a gamer. To give you an idea of performance, I used a couple of applications. First I used CPUID to confirm some of the specs. Here are some screenshots from that app:

I have not overclocked the CPU as I have no need to, but this can be done with the Ryzen.
Lastly, I performed another Benchmark test with Novabench just because I am used to that application:

What I like
- The compact, portable, and sleek design
- It is well built
- The versatile connectivity including the options of HDMI and DisplayPort
- It is relatively powerful and runs quietly
What I’d change
- This a more of a personal issue, but I do not like the location of the power button. It is easily touched by accident and the slightest touch will put the PC into sleep mode
Final thoughts
The ACEMAGICIAN AMD Ryzen 5 5600U Mini PC is a well-built mini PC that provides enough connectivity for most use cases and performs well enough to handle every application I have tested and use daily and in my opinion likely most of the games I have seen my friends play. I am not a gamer so I have no qualified authority to be decisive in that area, but I am otherwise very pleased. I have replaced my EDC laptop with a power issue with this mini PC and a foldable keyboard. I leave a 15.6″ 4K portable monitor at work and one at home. This works for me for now. I give ACEMAGICIAN a well done and two thumbs up for this mini PC.

Interesting choice.
I could not see carrying around something other than a laptop, even if I had the same setups in two places. If I needed a laptop I would have to change bags or swap devices.
I have a pretty inexpensive HP laptop with one HDMI port and one TB port. With an 80-dollar docking station I could connect a total of 4 external monitors and use the laptop as a 5th.

The entire set up fits in a small case. The case that is about 8 X 6 X 5 hold the mini PC, the mouse, keyboard, mobile hotspot and an external USB drive. This solution that serves me at least for now is efficient and incredibly cost effective. I am sure that one day I will buy another laptop, but since I buy really expensive and powerful laptops, this will do for now!!
