CROWDFUNDING NEWS – MacBook owners will want to know more about the awesome tech that is packed into the XFANIC USB4 13-in-1 Hub which is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
What is it?
The XFANIC USB4 13-in-1 Hub is a small desktop USB hub that has everything but the kitchen sink packed in. This hub can handle 3 extended monitors for MacBook including an 8K monitor (Pro version). It also works with Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, and iPad OS. There are two versions of the XFANIC hub.
Basic version: USB4 Hub Basic has 14 ports, which are USB4, USBC, 2xUSBA 2.0, 2xUSBA 3.0, HDMI2.0, 2xDisplay1.2, AUX, RJ45,SD/TF, PD and DC.
Pro version: USB4 Hub Pro has 13ports, which are USB4, USBC, 2xUSBA 3.2, HDMI2.0, HDMI 2.1, Display1.2, AUX, RJ45,SD/TF, PD and DC. And USB4 Hub Pro supports SSD, 8K, and macOS MST.
Note that the hub requires the installation of a DisplayLink driver if you have a Mac. If you have Windows, a driver will be installed automatically through Windows Update.
Why do I like it?
I like all the ports including the flashcard readers, but the fact that this hub can drive 3 monitors is very impressive AND you can even add an SSD under the hub’s magnetic lid to add more memory/storage to your computer.
XFANTIC sent me a prototype unit to check out and it’s really nice. I don’t have an 8K monitor, or an extra monitor to test with it and I also don’t have an SSD, but it worked just fine with my 49in DELL monitor and my 2020 13in MacBook Pro M1.
Where can I find more info?
The XFANTIC campaign ends on 2/17/22 and they have already more than doubled their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order an XFANTIC USB hub starting at $249 (basic version). After the XFANTIC USB hub campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2022. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

As with all Kickstarter programs, be very, very careful. Your payment does NOT guarantee that you will ever receive anything. I am still waiting for several products I purchased in 2020! I will never see that money again.
xfanic usb4 hub pro Looks dead in the water, I’m late to the game, ideally looking for a decent hub/dock, his had too many bells and it’s available nowhere in 2023?
