CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Today we have an EDC themed set of crowdfunding campaigns. If you’re a pocket gear fan, you’ll want to check out these three products that are seeking funding.
Inertix Cyberpunk Pocket Exoblade Knife
What is it?
The Inertix is a knife that is unlike any knife that I’ve seen before. To me, it looks like a prop from Blade Runner movie.
Why do I like it?
They sent me an early prototype of this knife and although this isn’t a knife that I’d personally choose for my own EDC, I can appreciate the design and engineering that went into making it. Honestly, it looks more like the kind of knife that you pull out to show off to visitors, more than a knife that you would actually want to use. It took me a while to even figure out how to deploy the blade 😉

The Inertix campaign ends on 6/3/20 and they have already met and passed their funding goal of $2,077. You can pre-order an Inertix starting at $159. After the Inertix campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in September 2020. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
Stay Safe Carabiner | EDC Stylus, Door Hook & Box Opener
What is it?
Stay Safe Carabiner is a multi-tool with a built-in “finger”/”hook” that you can use instead of your real fingers to help prevent germ and virus transfer from public surfaces.
Why do I like it?
I’ve seen 2 similar products on Kickstarter, but I like the Stay Safe Carabiner better than those products for a couple of reasons. First of all, this one is made of anti-microbial copper. I also like it because it has a built-in carabiner and extra functionality like a box cutter, stylus, hex driver, and a door hook so you don’t have to touch nasty door handles.

The Stay Safe Carabiner campaign ends on 5/9/20 and they are working towards their funding goal of $500. You can pre-order a Stay Safe Carabiner starting at $24. After the Stay Safe Carabiner campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in May 2020. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
Ekster Key Holder
What is it?
The Ekster Key Holder is made from the same people that make the Ekster wallets. Like their wallets, this key holder has some cool features not seen in similarly designed key holders.
Why do I like it?
I like the Ekster Key Holder because it has a more minimal and elegant design compared other stackable key holders. You can also add a Bluetooth tracker by Chipolo which also has a built-in flashlight.

After the Ekster Key Holder campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in August 2020. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
Gadgeteer Comment Policy - Please read before commenting
The Inertix looks to me like a knife that’s uncomfortable to hold with no redeeming features.
Also I take the old-fashioned view that the prefix “Cyber” refers to computing or AI. A cyberknife ought to do something smart, like refuse to cut human flesh. This is a dumb knife.
