NEWS – Last year GE came out with some vintage-style LED light bulbs and this year GE has come out with some oversized ones which look pretty cool. These large LED bulbs are available in different shapes and have different styles of filaments (spiral and weave) like those shown in the photo above. They also come in different colored glass: clear, amber, and smoke. They range from 25 – 40 watts, so they are really meant for accent or mood lighting. These oversized bulbs are also meant to be used without lampshades because of their sizes (see sizes below). According to the GE website, here are their large bulb offerings:
Globe: Available with spiral or weave filaments in clear, amber, or smoke glass. These globes measure approximately 1 foot tall and 9 inches in width and diameter.
MSRP: $32-$35Elongated Tube: Choose from spiral filaments in clear, amber or smoke glass. These tubes measure approximately 11.6 inches tall and 3.3 inches in width and diameter.
MSRP: $26Oversized Pear Shape: Select from clear, amber or smoke glass with spiral or weave filaments. These bulbs measure just over a foot tall and 7.7 inches in width and diameter.
MSRP: $30-$34Retro BT56: Available with spiral or weave filaments in clear, amber or smoke glass. These bulbs measure approximately 15.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches in width and diameter.
MSRP: $35-$38Decorative Pendants: Simple, on-trend fixtures compliment the vintage look.
MSRP: $14.99
I really like the Edison-style light bulbs but it’s even cooler that they are making them with LEDs which use much less electricity and emit much less heat than other bulbs. You can view GE’s entire vintage light bulb collection with decorative pendants at gelighting.com.

I have their first generation in my theater room. They have been working about 2 years now. I might replace them with the new elongated versions in the future, as they will look more authentic in my 1920’s style fixtures. But they are a bit pricy to replace 8 at a time.
Andrew Baker – They are a bit pricey, but boy they sure look nice…
Friends of mine in Tulsa have some of these. I really like the RETRO look and the WARM glow they put off.
Rusty – I really like them as well. I like the choices that they offer so you can better match them to your decor. I tend to like the warm amber glass ones as well.
