The Electrohome Retro Clock Radio is styled after the alarm clocks that our grandparents kept on their nightstands. Remember the actual bells on top that rang when the alarm went off? The Electrohome Retro Clock Radio may look like those clocks of yesteryear, but that’s where the comparison ends. This clock has a digital display that features four display dimming options, calendar and an indoor temperature display. It automatically changes the time for Daylight Savings Time in the Spring and Fall and has dual alarms with a weekend cancellation feature for those of us who like to sleep in. The radio portion of the clock has a digital AM/FM radio tuner with a 20 station memory. A battery backup keeps all your settings protected in the event of a power outage. All those features are nice, but where the Electrohome Retro Clock Radio shines (literally) is the two “alarm bells” on top. They aren’t bells at all, they are motion sensors with built-in LEDs. They light the room up gradually to help you wake up and when you wave your hand over them, they snooze the alarm. You can also wave your hand over the sensors if for some reason you need to quickly light up the room. The Retro Clock Radio is priced at $34.99. For more info visit Electrohome.

  2. This is a pretty cool item; however, I assume most of us use our smartphones as alarms (or our internal clocks if you are old like me).
