    I work for myself. The word “vacation” isn’t in my vocabulary. Therefore I have no idea what a summer vacation is.

    However, I do spend many weekends in the cool of Madison Square Garden watching the NY Liberty lose basketball games. 🙁

    I love to spend time in Alpena, MI in the summer. It’s right on the lake but it’s not as touristy as some of cities on the West side of the state like Traverse City.

    My favorite vacation spot is upon a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ship to any Eastern Caribbean Island. This is where i can enjoy relaxing and have fairly easy access to all things from my wheelchair. The staff is from many foreign lands with great personalities and pleased to help me enjoy my stay.

    Waimanalo Beach Park and Bellows Beach, on the windward (east) side of Oahu in Hawaii. They have beautiful iron-wood trees fronting a 20 to 30-yard deep beach, with waves you can boogy-board without fins. Just stand on the sandy sea floor and jump out in front of a wave – instant body board surfing.

    Look north and you see the Twin Mokes (Mokulua) islands. To the south are Rabbit Island and Makapu’u Point. Look back and you see the seemingly sheer Ko’olau mountains. Look all around – you can actually see the beach (unlike Waikiki, it’s not covered with people). Breath taking. Seriously – take a look at “waimanalo beach” in Google Images – you’ll see what I mean.

    The coast of Maine anywhere near Acadia is lovely, especially in late August or September, especially after Labor Day. The weather is perfect for a rental near the shore with kayaks, bicycles, and plenty of lobster.

    I love to camp at Kirk Creek Campgrounds 40 minutes south of Big Sur and 4 hours south of San Francisco. Nothing better than to sleep to the sound of the waves crashing below and smelling the water from the ocean.

    My wife and used to make a trip to the coast every summer and spend a week in our favorite condo. Now that we have kids the tradition has become so meaningful to all of us that it’s the time of year we can unwind and leave work, school and anything else to focus simply on family.

    I’d have to say I’m always drawn to the Oregon Coast and all the hiking trails and views… This is obviously after I hit Powell’s to stock up on books!
    Of course living in Colorado, every weekend is a mini-vacation.

    Anywhere that includes a beach. We love to travel to St.Pete Beach, FL to visit family and the beaches. And Myrtle Beach, SC is another favorite. Also, we are headed to Ocracoke Island, NC this July.

    My favorite place to spend my summer vacation is along the northern-most shore of Lake Michigan. I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula (Manistique) and us Yoopers all love the big Lakes. It is, quite simply, in our blood. 🙂

    Every year my family of four & I just get in the car and drive. We let the kids pick. Whoever has the turn will get to choose the final destination but along the way everyone gets to pick a spot for us to stop at and visit. All picks must go w/ something the kids learned about in school the previous year. This has been real fun b/c we have one just getting out of middle school, one going into second and one going into kindergarten. During the trip our navigator duties rotate and we have some great apps that let us know what is around us. My fav is the Grand Canyon, one kid likes the Wharf in SF, another loves the White House, last one just loves to navigate. The Wifey is fond of the hotel stays. All in all we have great summers.

    I have a warm spot in my heart for Wildwood Crest & Cape May, NJ. They sit at the southernmost tip of NJ, at the Delaware Bay. Wildwood has the widest beaches in NJ and I’ve spent many happy times there. Much of it still has a circa-1950’s charm and architecture. Going there makes me feel like a kid again, and that’s priceless.

    my favorite place to spend my summer vacation is at the beach with my kids. it keeps us all cool during the hot day and then it wipes my kids out so when we get home they eat dinner and knock out. i only have to worry about cleaning up the dinner mess because my kids couldnt make a mess during the day because we arent home

    I love to spend my summer in Madras, India! Aside from visiting my beautiful family (and the other half in Bangalore), the city has afforded me much pleasure. I can never get enough of the food, culture, and people. Mosquitoes and blazing heat are not nearly enough to overshadow Madras’ (or Chennai’s, if you must) simple beauty. The speeding autorickshaws, the ever-multiplying movie posters, the tea stalls at every corner… I don’t know… It’s just great!

    BEST place to vacation for the summer is a little place in North Iowa called Clear Lake! Two hours North of Des Moines and South of Minneapolis, this spot has a great lake for sailing, boating, skiing, beach, and during the 4th of July the carnival is a can’t miss!

    Best place to vacation is where I live in La Jolla. However, when I do vacation I still like beach spots in the Caribbean, such as the Bahamas.

    I’ll spend my summer vacation on the beach loving the warm blue water and soft sand under my toes. Doesn’t really matter which beach. I’ve been to a few and loved them all.

    My favorite place to spend summer vacation is along the Florida Gulf Coast! Destin and Pensacola beaches have the most beautiful sand and best local restaurants with fresh seafood. If you haven’t been there, it’s a must!
