Bobby Locke once said about golf “you drive for show but putt for dough”, an adage that still rings true today. To that end the folks at MxVGolf have introduced their new MxV1 putter. I know there are a lot of putters on the market today, each with its own unique qualities, but the MxV1 has something that most don’t have, a putter face that is rounded to the same diameter as the golf ball. The design based on the Newtons Cradle, allows the putter’s face to strike the center of the golf ball creating a true roll. The MxV1 is made out of matte black PVD finished stainless steel with a weight of 14.81 ounces (420 grams). What I see as the big difference in this putter from others I have seen or used, is the fact that the MxV1 seems to get the ball rolling forward without the skip caused by other putters. The geek and technology factor in this putter alone is at least a nine, but starting at $199 from MxVGolf, it may be on the high-end of your geek budget. Having had my fair share of putters over the years I find this one intriguing.
