Belkin’s Infinity Folio lets you lift an iPad mini off the desk without carrying a folded front cover behind it. The cover detaches magnetically, while a separate shell stays around the tablet’s back and corners.

The case is built for the new iPad mini with A20 Pro, which arrives November 6. Infinity Folio is already listed at $79.95 in Apple’s US store, with a removable stand, Apple Pencil storage and a frosted rear panel in one package.

For a simpler cover and stand, MoKo and Akkerds offer cases specifically listed for the 8.5-inch iPad mini with A20 Pro. Both use a PU exterior, microfiber lining and translucent plastic back, with automatic sleep and wake support.

The hinge supports upright viewing positions for video calls and lower angles for typing or sketching.

The detached cover also works as a portrait stand for the iPad mini or an iPhone, useful for following a recipe or reading a long document. The cover also activates the iPad’s automatic sleep and wake function when you close or open it.

A shell around the corners and camera

The frosted, translucent rear panel leaves the tablet’s color visible. Reinforced corners and raised edges surround the screen and camera, while cutouts keep the controls and ports accessible.

The advertised drop protection is up to 2 meters, or 6.6 feet. Belkin’s stated test basis is independent laboratory testing using MIL-STD-810G standards; results vary.

There’s also a magnetic Apple Pencil slot with access for attachment, pairing and charging. The package contains the removable folio, rear case and quick-start guide. The Pencil is a separate purchase.

The full case weighs more than the tablet

Infinity Folio’s listed weight is 297 grams, or 10.48 ounces. The Wi-Fi iPad mini with A20 Pro weighs 255 grams, so those listed weights add up to 552 grams, about 1.22 pounds, for the complete case-and-tablet combination before a Pencil.

The removable cover gives you a way to shed part of that weight when you’re reading. The product information doesn’t break that weight down between the cover and rear shell, so the handheld weight with the cover removed is unknown. Pack the whole assembly, though, and you’re carrying more than twice the bare Wi-Fi tablet’s listed weight.

Apple lists a two-year warranty, with service and support handled by Belkin; Apple’s own product warranty doesn’t cover the case.
