A sports watch can help women track workouts and stay fit, but a bulky case may end up on the nightstand. If you have smaller wrists, check case dimensions, weight and strap adjustment alongside GPS and battery life. A comfortable fit helps you wear it during workouts and overnight.

Three 2026 sports watches take different routes. Garmin’s Forerunner 170 is built around running plans and training feedback; Amazfit’s Active 3 Premium pairs guided workouts with offline maps; Polar’s Street X covers more than 170 sports and activities in a durable design. None is made exclusively for women, so compare each watch’s fit with your wrist and its features with the way you train.

1. Garmin Forerunner 170: Running Features in a Manageable Case

For runners training toward a goal, the Forerunner 170 combines structured plans with performance and recovery feedback. Its 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and five physical buttons provide two ways to navigate.

The case is 42.6mm across, 11.9mm thick and about 41g. Garmin lists wrist compatibility from 126 to 203mm; check the fit, especially if you have narrower wrists or plan to wear it overnight.

Built-in GPS tracks routes, pace and distance, while wrist-based heart-rate tracking adds workout and recovery data. Garmin Coach, daily suggested workouts, training readiness and training status help put that information to use. These recovery metrics are estimates, not medical assessments. Garmin Pay works with participating banks.

Battery life is rated at up to 10 days in smartwatch mode, with less during frequent GPS use. The standard model costs $299.99; the $349.99 Music version adds downloaded audio playback through compatible Bluetooth headphones. Colors include black/amp yellow and whitestone/cloud blue. It’s the running-focused pick of the three.

2. Amazfit Active 3 Premium: Training and Navigation for Less

The Amazfit Active 3 Premium suits beginners who mix running, gym sessions and classes. Introduced in February 2026 at $169.99 in the US, it pairs an AMOLED display with sapphire glass and built-in satellite positioning.

Four physical buttons offer an alternative to touchscreen controls. Zepp Coach builds adaptive running plans from activity and goals, while running metrics help track progress, not replace gait analysis or medical advice.

Offline maps provide turn-by-turn directions, point-to-point route planning and automatic rerouting. Download maps and routes before heading out; buildings and other conditions can affect positioning.

Zepp can share workouts with Strava, TrainingPeaks, Runna and Intervals.icu. Wrist navigation can also reduce phone checks on unfamiliar routes.

The case measures 45 × 45 × 11mm, excluding the heart-rate sensor base, and weighs 38g without the strap. Compare its case and strap adjustment with a watch you know fits; a secure fit helps wrist-based heart-rate tracking.

Available in Apex Silver, Atlas Blue and Aero White, it is the most affordable of these three picks. Choose it for affordable training guidance and offline navigation. Battery life is rated at up to 12 days with typical use or 24 hours of continuous GPS tracking, depending on settings and usage.

3. Polar Street X: Multisport Tracking With a Larger Case

Polar Street X supports more than 170 sports and activities. Its 1.28-inch AMOLED touchscreen has Gorilla Glass 3, and the reinforced-polymer case is built for durability.

At 45mm wide and 13.8mm thick, it ties Amazfit Active 3 Premium for width, but is wider than Garmin Forerunner 170 (42.6mm). The Street X is the thickest of the three. It weighs 48g with its wristband; Amazfit’s 38g figure excludes the strap, so the weights aren’t directly comparable.

MIL-STD-810H testing and WR50 water resistance complement GPS, a compass, barometer and route guidance. Navigation follows planned routes rather than offering detailed offline maps.

Polar Flow tracks training load, sleep and recovery, and records nightly skin-temperature changes for wellness trends, not medical assessment. The built-in white-and-red flashlight is useful for nearby tasks, but not a substitute for dedicated outdoor lighting.

Battery life is rated at up to 10 days in smartwatch mode. Polar advertises up to 43 hours in performance-training mode; its manual specifies 42 hours with optical heart rate on and GPS recording every second. At $249.99, it comes in Night Black, Snow White and Forest Green and accepts 22mm quick-release straps. Its size makes wrist fit worth checking, especially on narrower wrists.

Which Sports Watch Should You Choose?

Garmin Forerunner 170 is the running pick, with a 42.6mm case and a published 126–203mm wrist range. Amazfit Active 3 Premium costs the least and adds offline maps. Polar Street X tracks 170+ activities; at 45mm wide, it matches Amazfit, but its 13.8mm case is thickest.

Compare case size, thickness and strap adjustment with your wrist. Then choose the training features you’ll use.
