Qualcomm covered my trip to Maui for Snapdragon Summit. The day-two keynote gave football fans their own laptop reveal: an exclusive Manchester United Surface Laptop. We got a first look and a QR-code chance to win one. We didn’t get a spec sheet.
Qualcomm, Microsoft and Manchester United announced the collaboration in July. The July plan was for a club-branded Surface PC and a fan program. At the Snapdragon Summit keynote, Microsoft finally called it an exclusive Manchester United Surface Laptop powered by Snapdragon and showed it to the audience. That first look is the new part of the story.
A collector’s laptop, with an important blank on the spec sheet
If you follow United, a laptop made for the club has an obvious pull. I’d still want to know whether it’s the right computer to carry every day. Microsoft hasn’t identified its screen size, exact Snapdragon chip, memory, storage, battery rating or price. The regular 13-inch Surface Laptop announced at Summit uses Snapdragon X2 Plus. That doesn’t tell us which chip is in this limited edition.
A spokesperson told the keynote audience that only a few fans would get one and put up a QR code to enter. Attendees could also see it in the Surface Experience Area. The club’s own announcement confirms fans can win the limited edition. Neither source gives us worldwide eligibility rules or a retail price. That stage QR code may be useful if you’re in the room, but I wouldn’t treat it as a standing way to enter from home. Why a Surface is showing up on a football shirt
The hardware reveal is part of a bigger three-way promotion. Microsoft Surface branding began appearing on the back of United’s preseason shirts in July. The club says it will also appear in men’s domestic cup matches during the 2026/27 season, on United Women’s shirts across the campaign, and on select Academy kits. Snapdragon already has the front-of-shirt partnership. The special laptop gives that arrangement something more tangible than another logo on a jersey, even if only a small number of fans will take one home.
A United laptop could be a fun thing to bring home. First, the companies need to tell fans what’s inside it and how to enter.
